Hair removal

Advice on Feminine Hygiene You Didn't Know You Needed

There are various methods of hair removal. Waxing is a great method if you are up for it as over time the hair just stops growing back as much. Shaving is another great method, however never leave your razor in the shower it will rust. Instead keep the cap that comes on the blade put it back on after use and put the razor in a safe place (away from small hands). Never press down on the razor when shaving you'll cut yourself or break the razor. Gentle smooth movements of the blades work best. You don't have to buy shaving cream, you can also use coconut oil or just plain old soap lather.

You should always have some sort of lubrication when shaving. Never shave dry skin, it increases chances of ingrown hairs and razor burn. Exfoliate before shaving, this is the process of using some sort of medium to remove rough dead skin cells. I recommend using something that won't harm the planet when it goes down the drain, such as an exfoliant made of sand or sugar. However this is not necessary for you can also use a wash cloth to exfoliate your skin to save money.

After you finish any sort of hair removal remember to put on a soothing lotion. It will help with razor burn and keep the skin soft and moisturized. I also have tips for epilating however there are other topics I wish to touch on at the moment.

Vaginal health

Advice on Feminine Hygiene You Didn't Know You Needed

A healthy vagina is acidic. A vagina is not meant to smell or taste like flowers or fruit. Vaginal discharge is a great way to tell the health of your vagina. Cleaning your vagina is unnecessary, you can use soap on the labia but don't use anything but water to actually clean the vaginal opening. Those soaps we all love actually throw off the ph balance of our vaginas. Trust me, your vagina will thank you.

Discoloration of the genital area is completely natural and there isn't much you can do for it. Semen and certain kinds of sex can also throw off that pH balance. Oral sex in particular (the other kind of sex I mentioned before) can actually increase chances of a yeast infection. So if you're feeling a little itchy after your friend has gone down on you, that could be a yeast infection. Another thing is that your diet effects the smell of our lady friend. Drink lots of water, the vagina is self cleaning and if you're dehydrated it can't do it as well.

Periods

Advice on Feminine Hygiene You Didn't Know You Needed

I know ewww, why mother of God!!! However periods, when you think of it, are like a practice pregnancy. Your cramps (which we all loathe) are actually contractions. Those cramps that we hate so much actually help push the vaginal lining that we are shedding out of the body. Although for a select few (myself included) these cramps can be debilitating to the point that some can't even walk. Talk to your gynecologist, they should be able to prescribe medication to help.

Another reaction that is common among women is to get the shits when on your period. This is because the hormones released to make those cramps happen does the same to your bowels, making you poop a lot. Now some people do not know this however hang on to that wrapper your pads, tampons, or panty liners came in. After they are full remove it from your underwear and roll it up, next put it on the empty wrapper and roll it up, use that little left over piece of tape to tape it shut and dispose of it (same for panty liners) this is so whoever takes out the bathroom trash doesn't have to touch your bodily waste. For tampons, after inserting the tampons your left with the little plastic part, don't flush it. Put it back in the wrapper and dispose of it. You can also wrap used tampons or pads in toilet paper.

I am willing to include any other topics that people have interest in. I'm trying to help stop the misinformation that keeps going around. I already have plans to write about acne, and sex as well. I'm thoroughly annoyed by the misinformation I have seen recently. Be it the boy who tried to convince me to have anal sex with him because it isn't "real sex" or the girl I spoke to the other day about how white pride doesn't exist.

Please let me know if you have any requests on information and if you have any additional information you would like to share on this topic. I will be reading all comments on this post and if I see anything that is not true commented I will not only be contacting that person to tell them the facts but I will add on to here the accurate information.

  • Nice take! You covered a whole lot of good areas of girly hygiene! Diet not to lose weight, but a good balanced diet makes a huge difference in overall health and healthy appearance too.

For hair removal I use sugaring. It's a super sticky sugar, water, lemon juice (and any spices like vanilla or lavender to smell nice and girly). The sugar mixture is them simmered until it reaches softball candy stage, then needed a little on a marble baking board to cool and condition it. It is then used similar to wax, spreading it on then using a rolling action to YANK those hairs out. I use it on my legs, arms and the hair down there too. Leaves your skin all nice and smooth like a baby's bum! Follow that up with just enough olive or coconut oil on your palms to spread over the now hairless areas. (I just read about mixing honey in with olive oil 1/3 to 2/3, makes sense too both have been used as healing alms since antiquity.)

You can either make your own sugar or buy commercially prepared sugar. There are a couple YouTube's on how to use it. For me, sugaring is far less painful than waxing, but remember you are ripping hair out by the roots! I've never had ingrown hairs anywhere with sugaring, shaving gives me ingrown hairs nearly every time.

    • Healing balms not healing alms! I thought alms were for the poor, or they are in the old movies where someone is begging and asks "alms for the poor".

    • Lol this is good information thanks for sharing!!!

    • Thank You!!

  • Nice take!

I would also like to add that the cup is a great alternative when on your period. One cup can last for up to 10 years if you take care of it properly. And unlike tampons, you can keep it inside your vagina for a full 12 hours, or until you feel like it needs to be emptied. Sure, it's a bit of a hassle compared to tampons and pads because instead of throwing it away you need to wash it, but if you time it right you can do all of that in the comfort of your own home. I've been using the cup for nearly two years and it's been great. It takes a while to learn how to properly insert it and take it out, but it didn't take me more than a couple of months to fully integrate it into my routine. Since it's something you really only have to buy once, you'll be saving a lot of money. And it's also better for the nature since you won't have to throw out lots of pads and tampons every month.

    • Thank you for touching on this. I would have but I was trying to put as much information as possible into this without running out of space. You are correct the cup is a very good alternative.

    • Too bad it’s not very useful for young women who may not have put anything up there. I have not been able to get talons in when I started- still can’t. I really hate pads though.

    • @VIVANT why can't u get tampons in whats the problem?

    • I shaved off all my skin lol though I never threw it unwrapped pars bc yes gross and inconsiderate. Never have nor am I now interested for practice pregnancy. I wish there was a button to push to get things started IF you choose to get pregnant.

    • Right lol 😂😂😂

  • The my take I wish I could have found at 13

    • Ikr, I thought posting this would be helpful.

  • This is a really good take. Thanks for sharing and continue to share more.

  • I find olive oil works magically for getting a smooth close shave around bikini area!

    • I just read something about olive oil and honey for the same thing, 2/3 olive oil to about 1/3 honey. Both have been used for centuries as healing balms, so mixing them is probably like getting the best of both!

    • @SammyGurl you can also use the same mixture on your hair as a hair mask.

  • Very good mytake!

  • Coconut oil and sea salt make an excellent all over body scrub, and is great for the environment. Plus it cost peanuts! Also, hair conditioner is better as a shaving cream than soap, as it conditions the skin.

    • This is a good tip

  • I use to shave my pubic hair but it grew back within a few days. Several years ago I decided to get mine lasered off which is so much better. I still do a little touch up every now and then with a razor but mostly my hair is now very fine and doesn't grow back. It looks and feels so much better.
