How Much Does Plan B Fuck You Up?

I'll attempt to keep a long story short. Just know that the last month has been pretty much horribly messed up. It all started with a very confusing situation with my boyfriend. It wasn't officially sex, but it was pretty close. No genuine penetration. He had a condom on just in case though and he ended up coming and some got out due to how he chose to remove the condom (aka not very carefully). So, being Miss Paranoid, I flipped the fuck out. Not in front of him, but after we parted ways I went immediately to the store, bought Plan B and took it. Just in case. 1. I have a blood condition where I'm technically not supposed to take oral contraceptives of any kind because it's kind of a life or death deal and let's just say I wasn't thinking clearly and was pretty traumatized by what had happened and how psyched out that I was that I chose to risk it. Obviously I am still alive, but that needs to be considered when you answer this question. So I took it and immediately got a period. I had just finished one before the situation happened. And then I had a second 5 days after my last one had ended. So that wasn't all that long ago, like 2 weeks and today I am cramping pretty badly like how I usually get before it comes. But that would make for 3 periods in a month and that just kind of sucks. I'm not due for a period for another 15 days or so. I normally have a 29 day cycle. If I'm having a 3rd period, would that explain my weight gain the last few days as well? My body is so messed up right now. So... lots of questions... ready? Go!

  • Plan B is pretty much just an ultra high dose of regular contraception.. like taking 6 birth control pills all at the same time vs 1.

So, yeah it's going to definitely mess you up and your periods up significantly.

I highly suggest that with your condition especially that you look into getting on the diaphragm, copper IUD, or use another non hormonal birth control method as a backup to when you don't want to or can't use condoms because what you did sounds dangerous. There are other options out there for you besides the pill. There are also pills which do not affect blood clotting. I seriously think you should go talk to your doctor about your options

  • Plan B doesn't ease your mind right after taking it because there are side effects similar to pregnancy symptoms. It is a large dose of birth control and it prevents the release of your egg - therefore the sperm cannot fertilize it. Cramping is common... A short light period soon after is also common... And that third period, it has happened to me once because I was expecting my period around that time... It can also delay your period... I think that you were trying to be safe but because you have an additional condition that can be at risk because of the pill, you should seek medical attention or counseling. No one at GAG is a health care provider ---

  • I would definatly see your GP as something may of damaged your body and you say life or death it's something concerning.

  • Taking oral contraceptives of any kind is a life or death situation. So you took what is a VERY high dose contraceptive, exactly what you know you should not do. Imagine that you just took a possibly deadly overdose of some drug (which actually this is). Should you immediately get medical help, or sit down and ask for suggestions from non-doctors.

    'Nuff said.

  • Your body chemistry is "messed up" so to speak. Have you considered seeing a doctor to see what options other than birth control pills might work? Obviously go with condoms and have him practice putting them on and taking them off before sex. Would you consider an IUD? Please be careful and make sure a doc knows what your plan is.
