Do American girls enjoy seeing guys naked?

I know this may sound ridiculous but so many girls I know and girlfriends I have had are not that into guys being naked. I am in pretty decent shape and my girlfriends have rarely checked me out or even wanted to see me naked. On top of that, a majority of the girls have preferred to see women's bodies over men's. I get the whole "women are less visual" and "I only like to see my boyfriend naked" but I really believe that American girls have grown up believing that the female form is beautiful and the male form is not sexy. I have met a number of European girls who, shockingly, like to see guys in Speedos and even more shockingly love to see guys au natural. Please explain to me why most American girls aren't that interested in seeing even really hot guys naked because I LOVE seeing a naked girls body and it doesn't have to be even close to perfect to be amazing looking.

  • First of all, I do not accept the premise fully that American women don't find the nude male torso attractive. But they are diminishing in number. American women are being conditioned to be visual only when looking at women. I am a bit older, and I have seen the change in our culture. As I grew up, women were just as grossed out at looking at lesbian sex, and were offended by naked women in advertising and every other walk of life. We accepted it, but we didn't like it. almost to the same extent that men don't like looking at sexually explicit images of other men. However, it is easy to condition a culture to change its views. For example, homosexuality, although it is not fully accepted, is far more accepted today, than it was, when I was much younger. Since its acceptance, men seem to be more sensitive about being seen as gay. Consequently, homophobia has grown, and men routinely state how much they are disgusted by the sight of another naked man. Is this all connected? I do not know, I am just stating how I have seen things change.

Your fellow males in America routinely play down male attractiveness, while playing up female attractiveness, even to the extent that we women should feel the same way. Men love lesbian sex, and with the acceptance of homosexuality, this attraction can conveniently be exploited. I hate to say it, but it is a man's world still, and unfortunately we women are heavily influenced by it. All you have to do is read what women say about male bodies vs. female bodies to get your answer. Men are the ones setting the tone for women in America. That tone is that male anatomy is ugly, and only women are beautiful. Just go to the beach. Men cover themselves up with suits that sometimes go below the knee. Women are conditioned to think that to see even as much as a male thigh is unattractive. In my younger days, we routinely saw men in shorter shorts as well as short swimsuits, and never thought of it as gay or unattractive. We routinely talked about the attractive male bodies we saw at the beach, and were graced with seeing much more than is visable today. Now American women don't even want to see a pair of shorts above the knee on a guy. To me, it is sad to hear so many young women speak so condescending of men's anatomy. It wasn't always like that.

In Europe, male beauty is not as berated,or seen as gay, like it is in America. Homophobia is less of a problem. Women have a much healthier view of the male body, and it is more appreciated, and made less fun of. If American men would see themselves as more attractive, and not feel that their body is too ugly to show off, I feel that women would change their attitude a bit. After all, why should women see men's bodies as attractive, when men don't see themselves as attractive? It should not seem shocking that women in Europe feel different and love male anatomy. European men don't cultivate the self loathing of their own bodies that American men engage in.

    • Thank you for your answer. I appreciate your thoughts a lot. I agree that men's bodies are seen as unattractive but disagree that men are the reason. Women in this society dictate that. You just have to look at a women's magazines to see that. Most men do not like ultra-thin women. Men are shaving themselves everywhere to please women. If women thought guys making out was hot, men would do it. America is the opposite of ancient Greece- women are the standard and lesbianism part of growing up.

  • I am intrigued by this subject hence my lengthy answer. Relationships between men and women just fascinate me. My previous answer centers around the fact that European women are different in this regard. Our DNA is the same but we are different in our attitude. I am curious as to why this is so. You are not the first guy that has stated this as a curiosity or a concern. Some guys are very bothered by women's attitudes towards their sexual appeal. I agree that women ultimately dictate the terms. What I am saying is the men in our society, who control the media, and advertising, dictate what is seen as beautiful and sexy and what is not .Powerful women have a much smaller role. Like it or not men do have a the biggest hand in molding our opinions. If we weren't so easily manipulated, our politicians wouldn't be able to get us to vote for just about any of them, and advertising wouldn't be a multi-billion dollar industry. I still believe that pop-culture has a hand in how women view the male image.

I agree with you that women are the ultimate reason that men behave or don't behave the way they do. But I think we are caught in a catch 22 situation here. American men do not see themselves as sexual in a public setting, and don't want to be seen as such. Many American women accept this premise, (they have been taught this since birth) and adopt the opposite to be true. Only women are to be gazed at and appreciated for beauty. We buy into it as normal, and we perpetuate it, hence men think this is how we want it. To me it is nothing more than being careful what you wish for. I am sure that there is something about this picture that makes American men feel empowered, but it comes with a price. Men cannot condition American women to not value male attractiveness from birth till death, and suddenly expect that it all changes the minute she sees you in the buff. It is a big ship, and you cannot turn it on a dime because it is suddenly desirous to do so.

And for the record, I do not think guys would make out with each other no matter how hot women thought it was.

    • I'm agree about the makeouts. That would be disgusting as sh*t.

    • I don't believe Men conditioned women not to value the male body. That came from a small but vocal "men are bad" push in the 1990s. I also believe that it would be extremely challenging for a guy to embrace his sexuality is a public setting as he would be thrown in jail. Guys have to be very careful about how they act around women. The change, IMHO, has to come from women in this country. Value the male body for its strength (and even hair) or stay focused on the curves and smoothness of women.

  • I personally like to see guys nude. I try to get the guy to strip down all the way first before I get completely nude. But many guys shy away from getting completely nude. I also have to rip their socks off them. I don't go hunting for places I can see guys nude, but I would mind as long as he isn't obese and/or hairy.

    • "But many guys shy away from getting completely nude". I found that to be a fascinating comment. I really believe that guys are getting shy about getting naked because women don't give them much, if any, positive feedback on their bodies. I know guys are supposed to be innately confident but it is difficult to be confident when you hear women talk about how disgusting a male body it (especially the front side).

    • Hi there I see your comment on the question do American woman like to see naked guys? • Curiouschicagoguy28, So a year later. I wanted to report that I kind of change my mind slightly on the Obese thing. I say slighty because my current boyfriend was overweight by a great deal when we met and I still found him sexy as all get out. But still love guys completely butt naked because guys bodies are just plan fascinating.

  • Referring to women -

I would much rather she is wearing some pjs and a cute bra, it shows she is more confident like that and also that she is comfortable. Why walk around nude? It just does not hold any class.

  • Cool question. I'm shock about the answers. I thought girls would love to see my big tummy. I'm so sad now, haha.
