Should I get waxed down there after an episiotomy? Does an episiotomy make a difference?

So I was trimming for the longest time, and I had a baby nine months ago. I have already gone in for an appointment, they said that I was doing fine down there; nothing to worry about. But I'm still scared shitless because of my stitches. Should I forget about waxing? Or should I just go ahead and try it? If so, what are some tips?

  • Your stitches should be either removed or dissolved after 9 months so there shouldn't be worry about wax affecting stitches because they shouldn't be there any longer. I've never had one and don't wax but with anything it may feel a little tender and that spot may be more sensitive to wax. I used to do my best to keep shaved all the time and my boyfriend now says some hair is actually little better, we usually have sex couple times a week and I usually only shave everything once or so a week and just trim up. I'd say you could continue trimming or if you want to try the wax maybe explain to them your nervous about that spot and have them try a little area and see how it feels and if it's too painful and sensitive then you don't have to continue and maybe give it some more time and try again in a few months if you like.

  • Heya!

    Here's an easy rule-of-thumb:
    • Does a tampon stay in?
    • Can you remove it without significant discomfort?
If the answers are Yes and Yes, then you are PROBABLY all clear for a brazilian/hollywood.

On the other hand, if yr scars are still looking pink... ehhh, I'd still wait on it if I were you.

What do the girls at yr salon say? I'm sure you are not the first, or even the 10th or 100th, woman to come in there with this issue. They probably have a whole set protocol for dealing with this issue by this point.
But, if they don't, then, the 2-point rule above should work OK for ya. [:

Even if you are still weirded out by the thought of a brazilian/hollywood, you are obviously still ok getting a bikini wax, ofc.

    • Thanks! :)

    • Sure! Good luck. Tx for the MH Luv <3

  • I'm no expert, but I had an op in hospital last August and now I can do anything I coyld do before. I'd say that after 9 months, everything is pretty much healed. I would just do some and see how it goes.

However, if you have any doubts, seek proper medical advice first.

    • Thanks for MHG!

  • the stitches went in 9 months ago. you must be healed by now

there's no way waxing is going to do any harm now

just curious -- did you wax during your pregnancy? don't answer if you don't want to

    • Lol, nope. I hardly could bend down during my pregnancy! Lol
