Slight bleed after using a butt plug... is it normal? Why did it happen?

Okay, I've been using a small butt plug for just over 6 months or so, and tonight I decided to use the next size up (the median one). Yes, I used lubricant that's especially designed for anal sex/play.

It did help a bit (even with lube), but when I wiped the remaining lubricant I saw some blood on the tissue and I panicked a bit. But keeping a calm head, I rung the non-emergency number and spoke to someone there. The gentleman said to ring my doctors within 3 working days, to inform them of my phone call to the non-emergency number and he also said to:

* Avoid straining and prolonged sitting on the toilet

* Drink 8 to 10 glasses of water per day

* Gently clean the anal area with soft, moistened paper after each bowel movement

I'm using the advice that was given to me, but why did it bleed? Was something teared or is it normal? I'm slightly worried that it might happen again, but I don't want to stop using the butt plugs, as I'm curious about anal and I want to try it

Saw my GP yesterday, and she said that it's possible that I've teared skin a little, causing a bit of trauma and that it should be fine within 10 days. I was expecting people to comment things like "That's for exit only!" (Like my mum said), but I'm curious about anal sex and want to try it at some point. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I am who I am ☺

  • You probably just suffered what is known as an anal fissure. It's just a slight tearing of the skin. I know you said you used lube but you did go up a size on the butt plug so you probably just stretched the skin to the point of tearing it slightly which caused the bleeding. It's minor and nothing to be worried about.

  • You may have tensed up while inserting it and made a small tear, or you might have had a small hemorrhoid and burst it. Are you able to stroke the smaller one in and out without difficulty?

  • Nope, not normal, you damaged your anus or rectum if slightly. If you feel pain when you do butt stuff, STOP, and do NOT use "anal eze" or benzocaine/pain numbing lubricant.

  • Do you have hemorrhoids? They bleed..
Hemorrhoids are giant veins at the entry of your butt

  • Not to sound ignorant but why the use of a but plug? is that a new thing nowadays?

    • It's designed for anal sex. This is what I found from the Ann Summers "A-Z of bondage" list "Butt Plug –Tapered for easy insertion, and usually with a wider base for safety – your muscles can draw things in, causing them to get stuck, so play safe. Butt plugs provide irresistible control over your sub's body, and getting fruity with the booty can be a real turn on for both of you. Take things further and experiment with anal beads…don't forget the lube and work your way up as the size increases. Just bead it."

    • thank you :)
