That would be something really really hard to ignore. But I beleive if the male patient has an erection , it would be due them touching his genitals which would be a case of something wrong down there. If I am right , I beleive it would be more of an aversion of that were to happen.

Like those movies from Piranhas, you have a good scene going on between the guy and the girl and poof a piranha comes on and bites of his dick. Instant mood killer? I think it works the same way to see an abnormal, sick, bloody, gore, body having an erection.

I'm s nurse. Obviously not female, but seeing as 80% of my coworkers are I can give some insight. Like 99% just roll their eyes and get on with it (Most of those patients are delirious anyway). A fee either blush a little or are grossed out a little. (An erection while being straight cath'd (tube up the urethra) really?)
We're professionals. We see the shit most people don't even realize is happening. We have bigger issues to deal with

As someone who has had a catheter put in while being in the hospital (pain killers made me unable to urinate for some reason). I would just like to say that this feeling is most unpleasant and should in no way or form encourage an erection.

Lol I'm sure they're desensitized to it. I use to want to be a nurse but I never thought of that situation or having to clean patients. I just couldn't handle the sight of drawing blood!
