Can you still give blood if you've give oral to a man?

So I donation my blood every couple mouths and so do the rest of my family. I'm a virgin but I've recently met someone who's also a virgin but my family don't know as my family are very conservative people and would think he's below me and disapprove. The other day I heard my mum on the phone to one of her friends and they were gossiping about another friend's daughter because she can't give blood anymore and were saying probably because she's "dirty" and has been giving her boyfriend blow jobs.

I thought to myself holy shit because I've started giving oral to my boyfriend and I've got a blood donation next month and if my family realise I can't give blood because of that my family would be so ashamed of me and think I was disgusting. I don't even know if it's true that you can't give blood if you've done oral I thought that was only for homosexuals.

  • I have no idea what the hell you're talking about, but here's the reasons you can't give blood according to the American red cross site.

    1) being HIV or AIDS positive
    2) being currently imprisoned
    3) US Military personnel who have served in Iraq or Afghanistan for over a year
    4) if you've traveled to the U. K. or Western Europe due to concerns about mad cow disease
    5) physically small people as they have lower volumes of blood and may not be able to safely lose a pint
    6) if you're suffering from flu symptoms
    7) under 17
    8) if you're pregnant or recently had a child
    9) having high or low cholesterol levels
    10) if you have blood cancers, like lymphoma
    11) if you have cancer unless you haven't had chemo in the last 5 years

If you've only ever participated in sexual activity with this one individual, a good start would be to find out if they've done an STD test since they had contact with a previous partner.
Just ask them directly. You're looking after yourself. If they appear offended for being asked the question, simply explain that you're only being careful.

    • My boyfriends a virgin too so I think I'll be okay, thanks

  • Yes you can still give blood. If that were the case, no women in the world would be allowed to give blood 😂

    • That's what I thought

  • They don't ask about that. There is almost no risk of contracting HIV from oral sex.

    • Omg thanks god, I can breath again, thank you.

    • You know that almost every adult with a partner gives and receives oral sex, right? There would be no one left to donate if oral sex were disqualifying.

    • I know that's what I was thinking but when my mum was saying stuff like that it made me second guess

  • Only if you've managed to contract an STD from him, and the only one you can contract orally I believe is HIV. If you have that, you have bigger things to worry about than your parents being disappointed in you.

The other girl probably got a different disease, such as syphilis or gonorrhea.

Actually, you can contract syphilis from oral as well. In other words, as long as you haven't had any diseased penis in your mouth, you should be fine.

    • Herpes too

  • Your mom probably gives bj to your dad and donates blood right?

    • Eww I don't know and I don't like to think about it.

  • Inn the US, that's not part of the screening questionnaire. They'll ask if you've tested positive for HIV or if you've had sex with a prostitute, but not about oral sex.

  • I don't think that such thing exist confirm with some docs

  • If that were the case, there would be no bloodbanks. How old are you?
