Because high school boys like shouting things. And nothing brings a misogynistic jerk out of the closet more than being in a group that's in a car and seeing the chance to abuse a woman who is walking alone.
I seem to get this kind of thing more when I'm in the suburbs than when I'm in the city. I'm not sure if it's because less people walk around there or what. When I was working in the suburbs I used to walk around on my lunch break. The building was close to a high school, and I had the worst things shouted at me. Like "bitch" and "cunt" and "fat pig" and "I'm going to rape your tits." For whatever reason, it was clear that these boys hated me and wanted to hurt me or put me in my place or something. They'd never do it if we were both standing still, but whipping by me in a moving car gave them the perfect opportunity, and the pathetic little jerks couldn't pass it up. Don't let it bug you. It's not about you anyway, it's more about them, their poor self-image, and their probable fear of women.
Probably mad they were not intelligent enough to get a nice girl so instead of internalizing and changing to become a better person, they actually downgrade women--dangerous mentality--can we say budding serial killers?

The only thing that I think will make any kind of change/impression on little shyts like that is for the object of their taunts to ignore them while a third party (parents, peers, police or the public at large) either metaphorical or literally takes them out back and cuts a switch for 'em.
we have a simple name for these people. they are called dicks. ignore them. hopefully they will go away. I know exactly the kind of people you are referring to, and most people are not like that, but they set a bad impression for all around them.
