If my kids are dating and want to have sex, so be it. I would RATHER THEM NOT, but I can't stop them from having sex if they want to have it -they'll just do it when I've got my back turned. And that's something all parents need to accept. All parents need to have "the talk" as soon as they see signs of romantic involvement, and educate their kids on safe sex and contraception. It is pertinent that the potential ramifications of sexual interactions are discussed.

I would tolerate my kid having sex in my house. If they are going to do it, might as well do it somewhere safe and comfortable. To answer your question though, yes I would be angry if I caught them doing it in a place that was other than private or if I could hear it. They would get a talking-to after that.

my parents gave me permission to have sex by age 15 if I felt ready so they never walked in on me because they knew to knock. they always talked to me, made sure I was being safe and all that, so they didn't really care. if I were a parent right now, I would tell my kids the same thing my folks told me: be safe and wait til you're ready, and you're only allowed to be ready after you turn 15. if they didn't wait, and I walked in on them, id be very upset and get them in a lot of trouble. id totally flip on them. but id try to talk to them calmly because kids never listen if you're mad.

My parents caught me when I was 14 and they did flip. My parents wouldn't speak to me for days. Grounded me and told me I was never allowed to see him again. So naturally me being in my rebellious faze it just made me want him more and I would sneak out or skip school. But I was ashamed and embarrassed when they caught us.

It sounds that way. But now that I'm older and have a child. I realize they did over react. But they wanted the best for me. And now look at me. Unmarried with a 16 year old daughter. If I would have listened I wouldn't have gotten pregnant at 15 years old.

Yeah so... I probably would NOT go the same route as your parents.. I would have tabs on my kids at all times. But no offense I guess that's just what happens in certain families, it has never happened in mine and more than likely never will :D good luck I guess

Well when you have a kid you tell me how that works out for you. There is no possible way of knowing where and what your child is doing at all times unless you never leave their side. You just have to hope you raised them right.

Caitlynsmom- I don't know you, but I'm proud of you for all you've achieved and I'm sure you are a wonderful mother. Everyone's life path is different and our job is to be the best person we can. You are doing a much better job than someone who chooses to judge others (and other people's parents) for their past. Bad parents beat, starve, & neglect their kids. Having a kid young doesn't make you a bad parent. And Your parents probably weren't terrible either. Everyone has a story to be respected.

First of all reread and you will see I never called her a bad parent, I'm sure she is a decent parent, it is the fact that she got pregnant at 15 that is a little.. suspect. But whatever that a society problem I guess. I also never said she had bad parents.. I'm sure they did the best they could with a rebellious kid, I simply said I NEVER WENT THAT ROUTE I never would I would also expect my kids not to too, that's just not something we do in our family.. A fact, hows that a fact.. that's one of the most opinionated parenting issues today. Telling your child they can't have sex in their house is like telling them they can't have sex period.. which you CAN do but it's not enforceable enough to bother saying it unless you're an overprotective parent.

Ok I can agree with making sure they understand possible consequences of sex, and discouraging(or just not encourage) sex in general.. but I can promise you no matter what the parent's opinions are, the kids will still do what they want to do.. and THAT has zilch to do which the parents' abilities to raise an obedient child.

If I were a parent, I would definitely be alarmed but I would also do my job and see if they're practicing safe sex and are being responsible.
