What are your thoughts on labiaplasty ?

I found out that soft core mags edit the girls vagina's to make it look like they all have camel toes. When I was younger I though that was what every one was supposed to have one. Because of this allot of girls are getting labiaplasty done and gynecologist recommend them unnecessarily. Did you girls feel like you were abnormal because that is the only type of vagina shown to us in art and sex ed. Also do you guys dislike when the inner labia stick out a little bit, because none of my boyfriends have ever had a problem with it. I personally am an "innie" with no lips protruding, but I don't think the surgery is neither good nor bad. It's basically individual. I've heard some girls with "curtains" say it's irritating downstairs when they rub against panties, so if surgery will help, then hey, why should I stop them?

If it's cause of some dude then I don't think they should get it done.

I'm from Tx and they aren't really "allowed" to go into great depth in regards to the human body and reproductive organs, so girls and boys never truly see what other genitals look like, but I guess that's what the net is for. Either way I like my va-jay-jay, even though girls are always attempting to bring other girls down with them. I hear chicks say all the time that innies look like little girls vaginas or guys who prefer my type are pedos, I could be rude and say at least I won't look like a shriveled up nothing in 20 years, but I'm not gonna sink that low.

Fact is, girls are always gonna be insecure about crap like that and it isn't just p*rns fault, which by the way the biggest p*rn stars don't even have "camel toes" they have curtains, but it's the fact that girls and boys are genital inspectors. We don't walk around looking at other peoples vaginas, penises or breasts, so *we* never know what to think "normal" is. What are breasts suppose to look like? Or what is my vagina suppose to look like?

I guess the question is, if we ever as a nation decide to incorporate an in depth sex ed class, should they show the photos or what...

It sucks to hear how common this is, but it’s releaving to know this is a common insecurity. I was in an abusive relationship where my partner would shame the appearance of my vagina. Now that we’re aren’t together I cannot engage in any sexual activity without feeling insecure. I don’t bother allowing any touching with fingers, or tongue. I automatically assume it turns people off. Especially since no one ever offers to go down on me. It makes me feel like mine is gross. I would never put someone through that.

I felt so sorry for that girl who got the surgery. All those asshole guys had her convinced her vulva was somehow gross or unnatural and yet when it showed the surgery she had one of the most beautiful vulvas I've ever seen. I was pissed off. To me it was like a crime to cut into her beautiful pussy.

I can sort of relate, I think because I grew up thinking my penis was abnormal (because I'm uncircumcised) so I know how horrible a feeling that is. I think it's horrible we have a media that tries to nurture shame and embarrassment towards the healthy (male and female) genitalia. I consider labiaplasty (and circumcision for that matter) to be barbaric. I strongly discourage any girls from having their genitals surgically mutilated.

And I have no respect for guys who make women feel self-conscious of their genitals. Any guy who complains about "beef curtains" can go f*** himself.

I agree with you with some things. Extreme genital mutilation, like in Africa, where inner lips, clitoral hood are removed, and even vagina opening is half sewn up, well. That's sick. If it's just to correct a bit of abnormality or pain problem, I'm for it. By the way, I'm uncircumcised. My doctor thinks I should have my extra skin removed. He can f himself. I like it the way it is.

Well what is an 'abnormality'. Vulvas come in so many different forms who's to say what's 'normal'? Check out this gallery: link . Each and every one of those vulvas is normal and beautiful and needs no surgical alteration.

Good on you for telling your doctor off. When it comes to dealing with the penis, western medicine is still stuck in the stone age, unfortunately. I love my foreskin too and wouldn't get circumcised for any money.

there is nothing wrong with having a little extra foreskin. Circumsicion is an american thing that is suposed to be for hygine, which I think is ridiculous because you just pull the foresking back to clean. Its really sad that girls don't know what to do with an un-cut guy.

You make it it hard on my brain now. Yes, lips vary greatly in size and shape. Even same ones changing again with engorgement. I don't know if everyone is beautiful. When I see the girl vid. stretch and tie them in a knot, just freaks me out. I guess I could like them, after awhile. Abnormality. If they are causing a problem. If the inners are more than three inches long, they might get irritated after awhile, going inside and out.

For me, if I ever saw my sister naked, when growing up, she had what is called a camel toe.

The big fat lips showing, and the Venus mound. I thought that's the way all girls were too, until I saw those other lips hanging out. First I figured those are old ladies, but was wrong. I like camel toes. I could live with an outie, as long as same length.

I think it's a racket; there is almost no medical or cosmetic reason to do it. Plus, whenever you go slicing around down there, you risk slicing something--a nerve, perhaps--that makes life pleasant.

I don't speak for all guys, there's likely to be some virgin or other asshole out there who has never seen a real naked girl before and who thinks it's nasty and doesn't know it's normal. The labia minora, automatically extend beyond the labia majora when the girl is extremely sexually aroused. They extend in preparation for the entrance of an erected penis into the vagina. It's a normal natural process. If a guy is with a girl, NAKED and doing a lot of foreplay, and notices her lablia minora are well extended, it means he's done something very well and she's very well aroused by him. It's a great compliment.

Okay, if there is any affect on the self esteem of some girls, it can't be any more than the affect of Playboy and Penthouse editing out stretch marks on the girls they photoed. This gives virginal guys the wrong idea that girls come without stretch marks. As with stretch marks girls should know that the appearance of 'beef curtains' is normal. So when they see edited photos of naked girls that removed the girl's labia minora, they should know the photo is an unrealistic photo of the girl.
