Why do guys just straight up ask you if you want to have sex with them?

I can be talking to a guy in a non-flirtatious way and they'll just ask do you ever wanna hook up sometime? I'll get a text from from guy, sometimes ones I've been friends with for years and never done anything with, asking that. My friends know full well I'm not that kind of girl. My mechanic even asked me that once! Does this work on some girls? Do you just ask them for sex and they say "when should I come over"?

  • Well, it seems a bit rude to me, but behaviors are always evolving. I can see some good things about it. You have to admit, it is refreshingly honest. Guys desire sex. That is the true root of all male female interaction in the teen years and for a time beyond. I think it is rather nice that these guys are not afraid to be a bit more upfront and honest about their desire. And it affords you an opportunity easily let them know you are not interested in sex yet. Perhaps when you are a bit older and become interested in sex, you will find it more appealing when a guy poses that question

    • You're right about getting older. I try to limit sex to relationships, but I hear women do get more upfront as they get older. Especially one's in their thirties.

    Yes.

One can be tactfully direct ("I'm going home. You coming?") but one should be honest; if you really *don't* want to know her better, just her body, then it's deceptive to act as though you do.

What Girls & Guys Said

  • If they never asked, they'd never get it. If you're not up for it, just refuse the offer and move on with life.

  • They do it because it works. Same reason SPAM email gets sent by the billion.

It annoys the vast majority of the population, sure. But it also works often enough for these guys, that it's worth their while to continue doing it.

  • Most guys don't just "straight up ask"...

  • Because apparently you are being approached by a significant number of douchebags. That's effed up, no matter how you look at it, and it's disrespectful. The only girl who would not find that offensive is one who's lost her mind.

    • Well as far as my guys friends go, its usually somewhere along the line of "I'm single and you're single and you know I care about you so we should hook up from time to time". I just chalked that up to boys will be horndogs lol. I select my friends very carefully so they aren't douche bags. My mechanic was totally out of line and it explained why he always fixed my car so cheap and I don't know about the other ones. I've asked a couple of guys this and they said that girls do go for it at times.
