Why do humans want sex so much?

Other species in this world only have sex to reproduce, during mating season. But humans want sex ALL THE TIME, especially males. why are humans so different?

  • Because human females have what's known as "hidden ovulation." That means that we guys don't know exactly when you're fertile. Other animals make it obvious by giving off a specific scent or having their butts turn to a really red color that's makes it clear when they're fertile. In those cases, when the females show they are fertile, the males will line up or fight to have sex with them and pretty much ignore them the rest of the time.

Humans evolved in such a way that we can't tell exactly when you're most fertile, so we want to have sex with you all the time as long as you display the characteristics of being of fertile age. (Big firm developed breasts, rounded hips, thinner waist, etc.)

You women, on the other hand, DO change your behavior with regard to sex depending on where you are in your cycle. During you most fertie days you are hornier than usual, you tend to display your bodies more than usual, you are less discerning about guys than usual, you are more likely to have sex, more likely to cheat on your boyfriends, more likely to have sex without protection and more likely to orgasm during sex. All of those things make it more likely for you to get knocked up.

    Hope that helps.

  • It's called "Primal Urge". Primal Urge are the basic fundamental instincts that all living creatures possess in order to survive. They are the following in no particular order:

    Hunger.

    Rest.

    Shelter.

    Breeding.

Hunger makes us eat, therefore lifeforms instinctively possess the need to eat. Instinct has no care about intake specifics such as amount of salt, carbohydrates, transfat and so on. Breeding is the same way. We possess the "urge" to breed because our bodies forces us to(avoiding all the boring technicalities). Instinct has no care about how attractiveness, annual income of our partners or possible disasters of sex such as pregnancy, social issues or crotch-critters; nor does most creatures do it purely for pleasure(some exceptions do exist). One exception to this is that many species tend to select the strongest male partner.

Breeding for humans gets complicated when we add in our intellect(and I use the term loosely). Our minds makes sex way to complicated in who we get involved with, why we do it, why we DON'T do it(religion, etc) and how we have sex.

  • thats not actually true. animals have intimate and sexual contact out side of that, and have even been observed engaging in homosexual sexual activity, which obviously isn't to reproduce.

human sexuality is really complex. sex isn't just about reproduction. I'm bisexual and sex with girls isn't for reproduction. its for pleasure, intimacy, closeness, expression of lust or love, etc. the human brain is not wired to shut on and off for different seasons of sexual activity. not only do we lust on a regular basis, not only do we have a drive to reproduce, but we also attach sexual intimacy with feelings of "love" and relationships. we have civilizations, culture, media, etc. that all reinforce these things that are innate to us in different ways, etc.

and a lot of women want sex just as much as men do, we just express it differently and the way society conditions us to behave (stigmas against women who enjoy sex through promiscuity get called harsh names and some people treat them badly) plays into it as well.

    • yup LOTS of homo activity and lesbian activity. natures way of reducing stress while avoiding over population. check out you tube lol its all over:)

    • I submit the possibility that you are bisexual due to high levels of androgen. This is a steroid, produced in the adrenal glands, which causes your body to think you can reproduce with another female.

  • Sex is valuable to people for more than just reproduction. We are social creatures and sex is something that provides intimacy and closeness, fun, etc. It also functions are a stress reliever. Further, humans experience pleasure from sex, which is something that most animals do not experience (though there are a few that do).

We are not limited to a "mating season" because we are less affected by season than other animals. For example, it wouldn't make sense for a lot of animals to give birth in the winter season because the cold, harsh weather would mean that their offspring would be less likely to survive. For humans, it doesn't matter what season we have children in because we live in houses that protect us from the elements.

  • Animals have a mating season because they mate when it is the best time to bear young: when the temperature/climate is optimal and usually at a time during the year when the food is abundant to support them. Because humans became accustomed to living in habitats like caves (where temperature/climate wouldn't affect them), and learned how to stabilize their temperatures with clothing, and started to farm their own food, they evolved beyond the need to have a fixed "mating season". Humans developed the ability to mate at any time in the year, and still be able to support their young.

  • Actually Dolphins do it for pleasure too...

    • Dolphins are smart animals.

    • And lions do it every 15 minutes when the lioness is in heat... You try doing that for a week.

    • I could do that if the girl can handle me!

  • Did you know that lions can mate up to 40 times a day?

Other species have more sex than humans do.

Plus, the "mating season" is when the probability of survival for the babies is the highest. For humans, it is always mating season because hospitals are always open.

  • humans and dolphins are the only two species that have sex for pleasure.

ive met a lot of horny girls, that doesn't mean all girls are always horny, you just aren't at your peak yet - guys is between 20-28 I believe and girls is like 28-36 or something like that...just wait, you'll eventually need it more than your husband

  • Most animals pleasure themselves - you can't go to the zoo without proof of that (unfortunately). The thing that makes us different is that we do seem to obsess over it; animals may just think of it as a natural drive and a normal function of the body. We don't question those who go to the bathroom a lot - it is accepted as nature calling.

  • Because it feels good and humans are addicted to the oxytocin (feel good hormone) release that you get with sex. And there actually are animals who have sex for pleasure like we do, dolphins for instance.

  • Not true. Many primates and dolphins also have sex for pleasure. This is a genetic trait developed to spread our 'seed' as much as possible. It's fairly common in the MOST intelligent species. In life, pleasure is high on the priority scale. In pleasure, sex is high on that scale.

    • I didn't say all species. But a lot of them only have sex for mating.

    • Your question was asking why humans are so different. Humans aren't different. We're in a different intelligence scale along with other mammals well above everything else. Sex is performed for pleasure among much of this class. We are animals but we aren't much like anything else intellectually. ~Distant

  • For one, humans enjoy sex, which makes it different than in most of the animal kingdom. Sex amongst some species is exceptionally painful and in almost all cases is done for procreation and not for enjoyment. Aside from humans, dolphins are the other species that has sex for enjoyment.

  • For the record, Humans are not the only animal on the planet that has sex purely for pleasure.

We are, however, the only animal on the planet that has sex as an expression of intimacy.

  • Humans have an instinctual need for power and pleasure.

    Hence sex.

  • We have no mating season because we are perpetually fertile. We are also not the only species that has casual, continuous sex. Dolphins have orgies, chimps are promiscuous, and many other animals have non-monogamous, causal sexual relationships.

  • Actually dolphins and penguins and primates have sex for fun - we have it because we think we can have it - when in reality we have sex because of how each of us smells - we like each others' smells so we have sex! Who said we are different - we are all the same when it comes to sex, males want spread their seed to all females same as animals and you should know we are also animals - but we are called 2 legged animals! Every animal and mammal has sex because they want it not to really reproduce!

  • If animals want sex just for reproducing, then tell me why 80% of female japanese macaques practice lesbian sex.

And it isn't an isolated case.

Also, women want sex just as much as men do, but we're more inclined to hide it.

  • because only humans (and dolphins, actually) get enough pleasure from sex to want to do it more often.

  • Because we can and it is fun.

  • Certain apes, pigs and dolphins, etc have sex for pleasure as well, and some apes and other animals (lions, I think?) might sometimes even have sex with the whole rest of the tribe (yep, that includes homosexual sex) to assume dominance.

Many species do masturbation as well, even horses, elephants, birds, etc.

You know what? link TADAA! There you go..

  • I don't know that humans are that different. General rule of thumb: the more complex the social structure the more sex it takes to hold the structure together. Not true for telepathic societies, but those are proscribed on this planet.

Consider termites; they screw continuously, one male after another until the males are all dead. The only reason there is no repeat perform, the queen has a way to store sperm for the rest of her life.

Consider temple monkeys: they are the only creatures other than humans known to screw when pregnant and polyarmorous relationships (cheating) are commonplace.

Consider gray whales: multiple open polyarmorous relationships.

  • Have you ever asked two animal lovers of why they have sex? I was curious since you seem to have this amazing knowledge of how animals feel.

    • No but you can see by there behavior. For example a dog, cat and horse will only breed when the female is in heat. It's the same for a lot of animals.

    • Well I suppose the obvious answer to that would be, those animals don't feel pleasure to sex. Look at all the animals that do, and you will see that they reproduce rapidly. It is a creation tactic... that is all.

  • Because I human needs about 14 to become fysically independant. Only then they become fertile. So the mum needs the dad to look after both and needs him for a long time. Nature's solution: make men want sex all the time and he'll stay with the woman.

  • We don't have a mating season. It is all year round for us and it is an individual thing it is just our society that tells us it is more the man then the woman.

  • It the way we are that y we are the king of the world and as for guy what more sex than girl,s that just not true I know some girl,s that what it ever day and what is wrong with what to have sex with some you care about men and woman have been having sex for 10,000 year,s or more how do you think we all got here if no one had sex none of us would be here and guy are not the only one that are horn dog,s lol
