Sometimes you can't. If you were having sex in a shower or water, you may not notice. Also, there is always the issue of precum which is clear and not as noticeable but does have some semen in it and can get you pregnant. Bottom line is that if you aren't on birth control you should probably take a plan B pill ASAP if you don't want to get pregnant.

Is it extra warm and gooey? Does it drip out? Does it have a different smell than just your normal wetness? If so, then there's probably semen in the mix.

I'm not a girl so I guess I am the wrong person to answer at all. But I guess you should also feel a little warm. Because a girl also get very very wet most of the times. And I think when the semen comes out, it is kind of warm.
