My girlfriend is 19 and has had 11 sexual partners - isn't that quite a lot?

I feel kinda weird about it. Would people consider this bordering on being 'easy'?

Not that it matters, but I made a typo, it's actually ten partners. Three have been long-term boyfriends Including myself. Is this still bad? I love her so much but I wish so much that I hadn't asked that question. My girlfriend was a slut. That hurts.

  • I'd subconsciously fear how (i) she would treat me (ii) she would compare me with her many past relationships (iii) she could get fed-up with me too...

    Basically, I like to use common standards for me, and for others.

    To me, sex is something which is almost sacred. Something I'd do with only a very few number of persons, under very clear circumstances.

    Sex is not shaking hands (I'd do this with anyone, even an HIV/AIDS patient). It's not striking up a conversation with anyone (I'd do this with anyone too, regardless of whether they look good or not). It is not the same as emailing someone (I'd do this to hundreds and thousands of people).

    If I wanted to relieve my sexual tensions, I'd simply click on some URL or take a book, use lube and my hand! That meets my needs, is less selfish a way of doing things, and doesn't make use of others for my sake.

  • It's up there, but you need to ask yourself is it unacceptable. OK put the numbers aside for a minute. Is this someone you care about, is this someone you could see yourself with for a while (putting the numbers aside remember). I know you can't go back to not knowing her number but if you didn't want to know why did you ask. If the number is a deal breaker for you then walk away, but don't hold it against her that you can't handle the fact that she trusted you enough to be honest with you.

    a) she's being completely honest with you.

    b) the number of partners she's had in the past doesn't mean that she isn't capable of having feelings.

    You people are way too harsh on this girl. And obviously on girls in general. It's not up to anyone to judge the way she lives her life and if she's ready to settle down with this guy then let her!

  • If you're girlfriend I 19 and slept with 11 people she's gone past easy and I'd consider her a slut. I mean at least she's honest with you but if I was with someone who liked sleeping around I'd be worried they'd get bored with me...unless those were 11 boyfriends she slept with in which case she clearly doesn't spend a lot of time in relationships for one reason or another.
