Made out with someone who has herpes?

Two nights ago I made out with a guy for about an hour and later found out he has herpes...Am I going to get it now? My head hurts and my body is sore (but I think that's cause I have a million bruises from stumbling since I was drunk) and I was partying really hard. My jaw and neck are also sore but I think it's because I slept funny...If I have herpes when will I start showing symptoms? He didn't have any cold sores on his mouth when I made out with him. Is it possible to get type 2 herpes just from kissing? My friends refuse to let me share their cups or straws because they think they are going to get herpes...I think this is silly I even told them that 80% of the population has herpes and they have all had cold sores before so they have type 1 herpes already and they shouldn't be scared... I didn't go farther than kissing with him so I should be safe, right?

  • relax , the herpes virus from the mouth isn't the same as the herpes virus from 'down there' and the mouth variant is slight less unpleasant than the other one XD herpes is a sleeping virus , that comes up when you are sick or stressed ( immune system is less active then ) . and indeed a lot of people have the herpes virus , but with a lot of people it doesn't 'do' anything :)

it's only transferred when you have inflamations on your mouth during the periods the virus is not 'sleeping' it thought ...

  • I made out with a girl who used to get the biggest cold sores. Yeah I know I made a mistake. But when I made out with her she didn't have any. That was two years ago. Never in my life have I had a cold sore. I'm not sure if I'm immune or not, but no one on my dads side of the family has ever had a cold sore so maybe I am.

  • You only have a chance to get herpes if his was A. in the mouth and B. inflamed when you two made out. It is ucually dormant for about 2 years for females before symptoms start. If you're really worried, go see a doctor.

  • No you don't have genital herpes unless the herpes bumps or saliva from your mouth spread to your genitals. Just be very careful and try not to spread it to your genitals

    • Spreading means having the bumps or saliva infected area touch your genitals. Your safe as long as u don't let that happen. Dont have sex when u have a break out to

    • Some people shed the virus without presenting symptoms. In fact, if a dicordant couple (one partner has herpes and the other does not) has unprotect sex only with each other for one year, there is a 10% chance of the uninfected partner getting infected.

  • If you didn't see anything near his mouth, you're good.

It's amazing how your body seems to react according to your state of mind. You fear herpes and believe you may have herpes and suddenly all these symptoms surface... mind over body.

  • lmao eww. go to the doctor.

  • Yes, it's safe to say you have both types of herpes now. Even if you kissed him on the mouth, the virus will travel down to your vaginal region and populate down there. I'm sorry to be the one to have to tell you this, but everyone else is just sugar coating the hard facts. RIP.

  • ep, a cold sore. If you receive oral sex from a person who experiences cold sores (even if they haven't seen one in a long time) this can transfer the virus to the genitals -- even if the person was not showing a cold sore at the time of contact. Cold sores and fever blisters are caused by the herpes simplex virus and are spread by direct skin to skin contact. When a cold sore infection spreads to the genitals it is commonly a HSV-1 genital infection. know more check datingpoz.com

  • Lots of people have cold sore break outs around their mouth. Is this the "herpes" you're talking about? Because yes, you can get that from kissing someone as long as they have a break outs, but they don't have to be visible. But if there's no break outs, you should be fine. If you feel a swelling pain in your lips, take some acyclovir about 4 times a day to get rid of it quickly. I get cold sore break outs about once a year. But having a sore jaw and neck are not symptoms of it at all.

    • I know that he has herpes, and I'm not sure which kind but I'm pretty sure its genital because he got it after having sex with his ex. My lips feel weird which is why I'm scared, I don't know what acyclovir is

    • Acyclovir: link

It would be ideal to discuss this with your doctor and get a prescription filled.

    • Go to a doctor and get a Herpes test for type I and type II. Long time ago, before oral sex was a routine thing, hsv-1 was confined to the mouth and hsv-2 was confined to the genitals. Today, you could easily get hsv-2 from kissing. As age increases , your chance of getting herpes increases. 80% of women over 70 have herpes. The rate of herpes of much higher among black women. I think black women are very beautiful but I don't have sex with them to avoid herpes. The same with Asian women. They are very hot but a large percentage have hepatitis D, which is transmitted sexually.
