Are sorority girls as horny and easy as the media says?

There are literally thousands of women at my college who belong to a sorority. They are all pretty, classy dressers and like to party. The problem is that I don't hear much about them giving out, only about when they are getting into trouble. The media and general society portrays sorority girls as sluts who will bang just about anyone, even for a price. I can argue quite the opposite as many of them wouldn't even give most men the time of day. Are there any sorority sisters who can reveal the truth without breaking any "vows of secrecy?"

  • I'm a sorority girl so I feel like I can answer this question. Are we as horny and easy as the media says, no. Sex was definitely a topic that came up all the time but it's not like we were always sitting around looking for ways to get laid. A few of my sisters had some pretty serious boyfriends and for the girls that were single I think a lot of people would make out with a few random guys but for the most part whenever anyone slept with a guy they'd known him for awhile (this was college so awhile was like 2-3 weeks but still, it wasn't like they'd just met him 2 hours before) and they would eventually develop a friends with benefits type of thing. One girl hooked up with guys pretty often and she was open about it, guys chase her pretty easily and she likes the chase and likes getting caught. But about 99% of guys who just wandered in looking to get laid that night were out of luck. You don't hear much about sorority girls giving out because when it happens it happens to someone they know and either becomes a boyfriend/girlfriend deal or a friends with benefits deal.

    But as far as the media goes sorority girls are easy targets. We totally drank too much and partied all the time (not just my chapter, every sorority on campus) so it's easy to look at a sorority and assume they're all slutty and will bang anyone. And the rumors that went around my campus were crazy and almost none of them were true so you just learn to ignore them. But when we would go out to the bar it was kind of like you said, we really wouldn't give most guys the time of day because they were creeps. We talked with guys we knew (pretty much the whole campus went to the same 3 bars) and occasionally we'd dance or talk with a guy we didn't know if we thought he was cute but whoever that happened there were always 5-15 girls looking at you to see if you were OK and if a guy wouldn't leave you had a bunch of pissed off girls chasing you away for bothering their friend. This was especially true for the guys who would go from girl to girl thinking we wouldn't notice. Even when we would have socials with a fraternity most of the guys didn't get laid, maybe one or 2 but there was usually some type of pre-existing relationship.

    But honestly we weren't doing anything that non-sorority girls weren't doing...in fact it's probably harder to sleep with a sorority girl than it is to sleep with a girl that's not in a sorority.

    • One of my sisters was dating a guy who was 40 for awhile...none of really cheered her on in that and we thought it was weird, but if you knew her it kinda made sense. Most sorority girls are wary of guys who are just looking for sex with a sorority girl though because we all know what the stereotypes are. Now that I think about it maybe that's why most of my sisters wound up dating frat boys or friends of frat boys because they were our friends first and guys we dated/hooked up with later

  • I am in a sorority and I will tell you it depends on the girl. People think that we throw huge parties, date the athletes and get trashed every weekend but what people don't realize is we have to have a certain GPA to join and maintain that GPA to stay in, we also do a lot of volunteer work for our foundation. the girls are actually very smart and put their efforts to school. I know girls who have NO life outside of school and others who don't care and party it up. the media and movies are so ridiculous its crazy! yes I'm in a top sorority at my university but I am also a virgin. I don't sleep around and I'm premed. I like to party but I don't drink yet I still live it up and have a good time. I also put my focus on our foundation along with school work.

  • A lot of my sister's like to party and have fun. Some of them are dtf a guy not any guy only HOT guys. These girls don't give themselves up that easily as the media seems but some of my sister's are easier to get than others it depends. Some sorority's have sex parties with frat guys not us though.

    • I am probably too old and not wealthy enough to join a frat. I'm also not crazy enough to join a frat for the sole purpose of getting laid! Bummer. Oh well, at least I can enjoy the eye candy...provided the women don't notice my indecent eyes! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • Sororities are merely groups of girls, think of them as clubs. There is no way to generalize about such a large and mixed group. Men are hornier than women, especially in their teens and twenties. Don't rely on the media for any real information. Movies play to men's fantasies; they are not trying to depict reallity.

    • girls are just as horny they are better at covering it though don't fool yourself. women crave sex too some even more than guys.

  • even if a girl has the typical sex drive of a guy, as in wants it badly, girls are still far more picky and choosy as to who they sleep with, after all, they have kids, eventhough we have the pill now, it's very difficult to change thousands of years of evolution

  • a high enough percentage that simply being in a sorority or having friends who were is enough to not take them serious as long term potential

    • haha wow this is beyond ignorant thinking! I am in a sorority and I have many friends and roommates who are too. first off I am a virgin and at most my friends have been with 2 guys both which were boyfriends. you are basing it off of the media and not actually life. as one I will tell you not only are we smart, we give back to the community and our foundation and we focus on school. you cannot say were not "long term potential" because you are basing it on false hear say and the media

I have sisters that are in law school, med school, starting their own businesses, doing tons of community service, and for the girls that had boyfriends they were awesome girlfriends. Quite a few of our alums are marrying their college boyfriends...boyfriends who come around gush about how awesome their girlfriends are without being asked by us.

  • The media and the movies exaggerate everything. Just because there is a stereotype does not mean it is applicable to everyone.

  • As a member of a sorority... I consider myself pretty average. I'm 22 and have slept with two people, both of whom I developed an emotional/romantic relationship with first. I don't consider myself a slut at all... but there are definitely a few gals of that variety in each sorority. Whether or not its necessarily more than the average college students I'm not sure... but I know plenty of sorority women who are saving themselves for marriage, have a long term boyfriend, or like me will have sex but not with a ridiculous amount of people. We just don't get any publicity because we are boring to talk about, and the dozen or so girls out of my organization of nearly 200 that sleep around will be the ones getting the attention. I've never heard of anyone paying to sleep with any of my sisters though. Overall it works out nice for me... I get a little bit of the reputation of being flirty/sexy/dtf while still maintaining my own values.

    • Haha you don't have to stay away from anyone... Just realize that you will probably have to work a little harder for a hookup than is usually depicted in the movies and such.

  • Well at my college a lot of these girls in sorority's are stuck up so in a way they are harder to get. And since I am not in a frat they won't really give me the light of day. The sorority girls always hang out with the TKE's (stands for Tapping Kegs Everyday lol). They are a frat and full of obnoxious dudes that are always at the gym (so am I lol just not obnoxious).

    • thats probably their brother frat. my friend is a tri sig and TKE is their brother frat at my university. if the guys are fun and chill I don't see anything wrong with it.. I'm a DZ and I'm dating a guy who isn't in a frat. I actually prefer it :) good luck to you

    • Society in general. They always mention that sorority houses are banned because they were depicted as brothels. In the Army, every soldier thought sororities were girls for easy sex. Parents get crazy about their daughters going greek for fear of rapes and the like. Does this answer your question?

    • Yeah, I don't think it anyone who's ever spent time on a campus thinks they're any easier than any other college girl. It's just if you're a hot guy, you're best off in a place where there are lots of girls to choose from.
