I think I can give you an answer to this question. Guys are like hunters okay. When a hunter go out and hunts something they usually keep a significant item or a trophy as a way or reminder of saying this is what I've caught or hunted. It shows that the hunter has skills or game. It helps guy remember his sexual exploits in his younger days. It could be a story that he might tell to his  to his male friends if they decide to talk about how many women or what kinds of women they have slept with. Now a guy might keep a woman's panties as a reminder of the woman if he really liked her, to smell the panties as a reminder of the woman. There are many reasons why guys will keep girls panties.
