Why would someone think they need an areola reduction?

I've heard of breast enlargements and breast reductions but never areola reduction. Why would this be necessary? Have you ever actually seen an areola that was too big? What would the criteria for too big be?

  • Just like any other tissue in the body, the cells of the areola respond to insulin. If a woman consumes to many simple sugars on a daily basis for years, and ultimately becomes obese(likely diabetic or pre-diabetic) she is likely to have enlarged areolas. So if lets say she decided to get healthy and lose the excess weight. Just like some people who lose a lot of weight may need plastic surgery to remove excess skin, it might make sense for her to have an areola reduction. Since an areola that is proportional on a really big breast, would look really out of place on say a C or D cup. What is ridiculous, is when thin young women with an areola of lets say one 1/2" gets a reduction to an inch in diameter. I've seen that with a large number of Russian and Ukrainian models.

  • probably in some incredibly rare case they could be too big to the point where it's nasty or disproportional, but big areolas are sexy. girls are so nit picky about themselves it's ridiculous. some guys are going to have preferences. some guys won't like you, many others will. I don't see a problem with that. guys aren't going to fall for a girl because of her areolas anyway. they ought to focus on what matters, not their t*ts.

    • Tits matter.

    • Yes, we like you to have them. It pretty much ends there. ;-)

  • Yes they can be too big! I don't know anybody with my size of boobs and bigger, or even the same size of nipples as me. They are really wide and don't perk up much. I don't really like the size of my boobs so when I get the money I am going to get them reduced. I'm just assuming they will reduce my areolas as well.

Also because they are so wide an don't stick out much they sort of point out to the side. That bothers me too. Boobs suck. Except when they look good. Then they're awesome. But otherwise they suck.

    • We guys kind of like 'em!

    • My boyfriend says he doesn't mind them but I can't help but be jealous of girls will smaller perkier nipples. Plus mine aren't even. But that's probably because my breasts aren't the same size.

  • It's not "necessary." that's why it's called an elective surgery :p and this is such a small procedure, I genuinely don't see the big deal. why not?

it might seem unheard of or unnecessary to you, but keep in mind that you've never had your own set of frontal lady parts (unless you're trans).

in their defense, it's great if guys like the way their areolas look naturally, but it's their body and in order for them to allow themselves to be loved they have to love themselves.

  • I don't think its a size matter of too big or how big but more of a breast:areola ratio. If the breast are small and the areola covers like 50% maybe she/he would be self conscious. the smaller the areola maybe the breast looks bigger? I dunno. I think it is ridiculous. The scar looks really unnatural too.

    • I think you're onto something with that ratio idea.

  • I've never actually ever heard one of my girlfriends or female aquaintances ever mention anything about getting their areola's reduced in size. Seems strange to this girl

  • While it might be cuter if they're smaller, it's not a big deal and they're still attractive regardless. Bewbs be bewbs and bewbs be awesome -_q

  • Guys often seem turned off by large areolas.

  • lol, is this directed to peace.love. couture?

To be honest it wasn't until I got on this sight did I realize some girls are selfconsious about their areolas.

Seriously are guys going to care?

  • insecurities.

  • I've never seen one that's too big.

  • It's never necessary. (I've never seen them too big)

It's desired by some women, for various reasons. They've been insulted in the past, and have a negative self-image. They are insecure. They don't see large areolae as attractive.

  • so these look fine to you? this is exactly what mine look like and I'm thinking about the surgery.
