Do men like to show off "their woman"?

I'm for real here. I know so many men that don't even like their girlfriend to go out, and then there are others who seem to be flaunting them,

  • yeah, I'd be lying if I said I didn't, hahaha. I was walking up to the club on my girl's birthday a few years ago, and this car-full of dudes rides by and as they approach I see them all staring at my girl. my first thought was, "sweet, one of them is going to say something rude, I'm gonna have to say something back, and I'm ultimately going to get jumped, or at best, have to fight four guys in a row. she is NOT going to be happy with me...", hahaha. so the kid driving is staring hard at her, which I don't care about, I stared the same way when I first saw her too, haha. then his eyes shift over to me, and I'm just waiting for it...but fortunately, he was cool and says, "your woman is FINE, bro...RESPECT", so I was just like "thanks, bruh" and everything was cool.

I'm a pretty nice guy in general, but I guess the most a**hole-ish thing about me is that I'm kind of shallow when it comes to dating. like you know how they say "girls dress up for EACH OTHER, and not for the guys", like they're competing over who looks the best? well, my thing with other dudes is, when we're all at a party, or the club, bar, whatever, I'm not trying to pull a girl...i'm trying to pull THE girl. I want to walk out with the girl that looks so good, all the other guys are PISSED. (this is all when I'm single, of course) and conversely, when a guy pulls a hotter girl than me, I'M pissed. like just yesterday I found out this dude tyler seguin from the boston bruins (who I don't even know personally, he just plays for my hometown's hockey team) was seen hanging out with this chick ciara price link who is absolutely off-the-charts hot, and I'm just enraged, not in an unrealistic, weird way, but just normal heated, haha. even worse is that if me and this guy were competing for her, he most likely wins, because I'm not a pro athlete and he is. AAAAAARGH! and the funny part is, I didn't know that girl existed two days ago.

wish I wasn't like that, but I promise, it's all organic, it's not for show. I'm just addicted to dimes, I guess, haha. I suppose my punishment is that I probably miss out on some great girls, but also, this isn't the movies...the pretty popular cheerleader isn't ALWAYS a terrible person in real life, and the plain, quiet, wallflower doesn't ALWAYS have a heart of gold. oh well, I'll be old and fat in 5 years or so, so this will all be moot anyway, hahaha...

  • You just mentioned two extremes... One is the controlling boyfriend that cares about her a lot but is insecure and fears abandonment. He doesn't trust his woman. The other is the detached boyfriend that sees her as an object and doesn't care about her at all. He is just using her.

I like to spend time with my girls because I enjoy their company. When they do things that I see as impressive it makes me proud, and happy to be with them, but I don't like to show them off. Some girls want to be shown off though... They crave attention and they want you to talk about them, and introduce them to everyone. Others are stronger and can handle themselves. =)

  • some do. I have this one friend he is honestly p**** whipped as hell. he doesn't necessarily show off his girlfriend in a flashy way but he brags about how wonderful she is and how she is beautiful and has the best body ever and yadda yadda. at first it was sweet but now we all just get annoyed because she's just a person, like anyone else and he pretty much lost himself to her, like he's barely a whole person anymore. but at least they are happy. he doesn't flaunt her that much, he brings her everywhere and is very affectionate and overly kissy and cuddly with her, but she isn't flashy looking at all, nor is she really that gorgeous in all honesty. she's not the trophy type.

then there are men who like their girls to be all glam in skimpy little clothes and high shoes and like to show them off dressed like that. for those type of men you know it is mostly sexual and she is like a trophy to flaunt to people because he is showing her off like a doll. I know a lot of older men do this.

on the other hand, men who don't like their girlfriends to go out ever are mad controlling..that isn't healthy.

  • YES!

How much his friends and strangers lust for his girl is actually a bigger deciding factor on if a guy will date a woman than if she is kind. Guy's biggest emotional craving is to be envied and respected by other men. Women's biggest emotional craving is to be understood and accepted. Hence, the problems between men and women.

  • For a guy his girlfriend describe his manliness. Some just want show off it to their society. Some feels insecurity so they won't want their girlfriend to meet guys better than them. Some are confident so they won't mind.
