Guys, are wide hips a good things?

In the past month I feel like so many people have commented on my "thick booty" or my curvy hips. I'm aware I'm a pear shape and I'm always really self conscious of it. Everyone tries to play those comments like they're compliments, but it's just put me on an extreme diet/exercise regime. I mainly feel frustrated because I never thought I was so big that other people would think about it. I just always felt like I was a typical girl over analyzing something no one else probably noticed. Now I know they DO notice. I'm 5'8 and a size 4/6 ...I just don't think I should be considered in the "big hips" category at my size. In general, do you consider wider hips an attractive thing? (and just FYI...implying a girl is big in ANY way(even if it's a compliment) feels about as bad as you'd feel if a girl said something like "You're so cute and tiny!" ...Basically it sucks.)

It depends on the body the hips are attached too. Personally I like the big wide hips. They are not commenting they are complimenting that 'you have a big asset'. So be proud of it and make the guys drool.

Wide hips are a good thing yes, as long as they're not too wide. It's a sign that you can deliver babies, men are subconsciously looking for those things.

Sixstring is absolutely right. In a number of major scientific studies it has been proven that subconsciously men look for women with bigger hips, and that the first place a mans eye goes is the hips. It is a subconscious reaction that plays into the womans ability to reproduce, that is sexually alluring to a man..even if he doesn't realize it.

lol Well I can honestky say most girls don't look at the crotch first because you can rarely see anything anyways. Now if a guy was wearing a speedo then heck yes I would, but other wise I look to see if he has good hair and large biceps. = )

Most people are just not conscious about it. There was a video documentary with devices used to track eye movement. Everybody was saying "I look at the eyes first, overall body first, bla." Afterwards they were shocked to find out that all of them looked at the sexual organs first. Not a single exception.

Personally I do not think wide hips are unattractive. Try not to be too affected by what other people said about you, because you are who you are! If they criticize you, then they are rude.

Btw, if a girl say mine is 'cute and tiny', I will take it the positive way..

It's definitely a good thing.

What makes you attractive is what makes you look like a woman.

Teenage boys and even young adult males today severely lack manners, it sounds ridiculous but many of them are unable to express a compliment without making a girl to feel awkward.

I'll tell you what is unattractive though - when people give you compliments, and your brain can't take them, and so you decide that it's really some hidden criticism and take pains to change what was appealing about your body.

It takes a particularly kind of screwed up brain, to come up with that line of thinking. Crazy is not attractive.

It's like a girl complimenting a 6inch guy on a small penis... 1. It would bother him because of her implication that he's small when he actually isn't that small 2. At that point he wouldn't care if this particular girl liked the idea of him being small...because everyone else generally dislikes small penis' 3. He would probably develop a complex about his size even if he hadn't really questioned it before.
