Let's hook up means let's have sex or let's get together?

which one does it mean? i have a thing with this guy we go on dates together and spend time and we talk a lot and we flirt and we make out. anyhow I was away and we haven't seen each other for a few weeks. sometimes he does business in the area I work and whenever he does we see each other, so yesterday I asked him if he was going to be in my area this week. he said he will not be there until next week but we should meet up this week. then I said "sounds good" and he said "okay, so let's try to hook up before next week" He never uses the term "hook up" except one time he referred to people having sex as "hooking up" but the two of us never had sex though I know he would want to given the chance. And, that was in an entirely different context. Does this mean he just wants to see each other, or that he wants to have sex?

  • I would have guessed in that conversation 'see each other'.

    • That is what I am hoping.

  • It means "let's have sex but then don't bother me later"

    • ack. well then, don't think I'm going to be seeing him this week, I don't really want to have sex with him, well I do but mentally I don't think it's the best idea or something just holds me back. I actually just wanted to talk to him. thanks for the truth I need to hear it.
