1) No, not really.

About the choking/gagging. That's completely normal especially if you're nervous. Breathing through your nose, and pinching the skin between your thumb and finger can help with that. It's also your body's way of rejecting things that it thinks will hurt it. If you continue to do it, your gag reflex won't be as strong.
