Parental Discipline: Is it okay to spank a teenager?
Why is it that a parent is protected by the law for striking their child - even a TEENAGER with an open hand or a leather belt, or a paddle or whatever...BUT if a random guy took that same belt and whipped Judge Adams with it he'd be arrested and charged with a felony?
I understand the BIG difference between giving a toddler a smack on the butt for attempting to run into traffic and a fully grown adult parent whipping their adult-sized or even aged child with all of their strength. I think that spanking a kid after a certain age is not only physical but mental abuse and should be prosecuted severely. I mean, we don't "flog" people in the USA anymore because it's "not humane"...so why can people get away with spanking a teenager? Basically the same thing.
