Haha so my boyfriend has actually borrowed my underwear before. We were talking and he admitted that he was curious, and kinda wanted to try a pair on. So of course I'm pretty open-minded, so I was amused and let him borrow a pair. To my surprise he found them rather comfortable and actually liked them a lot.
In my opinion they look pretty good on him.
But then again, my boyfriend is actually rather feminine, and he is bi. Which I really don't mind. It's not a big deal to me. He's pretty short (taller than me), with a feminine build and personality.
But I was really surprised to find that I found him attractive wearing my underwear.
Like I'm boyish compared to him. And I like sleeping in his (clean) boxers, so our relationship works really well and haha we are a bit strange.
But end all be all.
My boyfriend now borrows my underwear and the majority of my clothes for fun.
And I borrow his.

I'm bisexual, but answered the question anyway. I've done all three, but my preference would be dictated by the clothes I was wearing and the underwear available. Like another poster said, loose men's boxers under tight women's jeans probably wouldn't be comfy. But I would, and have, worn a partner's underwear. (Yet again, gender isn't the be all and end all answer we try to make it -- it's the size. I wear size S undies, my girlfriend wears large, and my male partners wear M, L or XL, depending on the guy. So... yah, my husband's boxer briefs could be comfy but mygirlfriend's thong not-so-much!)

i have. once when I had no clean underwear I borrowed a pair of my gf's. luckily she has some nike fit stuff she wears to the gym so I wore them. I almost was forced to wear panties but luckily she has some boy shorts, briefs, and the athletic undergarbs.

I would probably just go commando, because boxers are extremely uncomfortable, and not designed for tight jeans. Not that I'd have an issue wearing my boyfriend's boxers. It just wouldn't be comfortable under my clothes.
I don't want to know what kind of "emergency" it is that led me to that spot, but I kinda like the idea of her giving me her underwear to wear.

Hahaha. Just today, I was making fun of a male colleague of mine. He is training for marathon and he said his nipples hurt with the constant rub against the short amd it is a normal consequence. I was suggesting him a 34A filled up with soft cotton wool when he runs.
By emergency I can only imagine getting my underwear wet by falling off a boat or going into the pool. My girlfriend has a brother though so I could always use his, which I don't usually do, I just go commando.
Borrow her underwear., wearing a pair of her clean underwear is more comfortable than dirty or no underwear.
