Do you have a septate hymen, or have you had sex with a girl who has it?

A septate hymen is when the hymen has a band of extra tissue in the middle that causes two small vaginal openings instead of one. I don't think it's very common but on another chat forum many girls said they had it.

I first noticed something wasn't normal when I put in a tampon and I had difficulty getting it out. Later I discovered I had that band of tissue blocking my entrance. I had trouble masturbating when I was afraid I would accidentally cut the string and it would hurt and bleed. I never had an orgasm either but I'm not sure if that affected it, at least I was more careful with it.

I had been thinking of cutting it for almost a year now but I never had the courage. But a few days ago I got fed up with it and cut it myself. I sterilized a pair of sharp scissors, looked there with a mirror and snipped it in half. It didn't hurt at all and it only bled a little and a few drops on the next day. Now I have two little string pieces there but they don't bother me.

I haven't tried how masturbating feels like without it, I'm waiting for a while to let it heal well. I still feel relieved that I don't have to worry about it anymore.

A lot of people online said I'd be crazy to cut it myself, that I'd get a deadly infection, it would hurt like hell or I'd bleed to death. Still the only people that said not to do it were people who knew nothing about it. I didn't want to waste money on a thing I could do at home, and it's not like I enjoy showing myself to random people. Also I'm extremely ticklish so a doctor wouldn't have been a good choice.

You can tell anything you want about it but here are some questions:

Did you cut it yourself or go to a doctor, why and why not? Did it cut naturally?

Did it hurt or bleed?

Did you cut in the middle or snipped it from both ends?

How long did it take to heal?

Did it feel different to put something inside after cutting?

Is it disgusting for a girl to have it? (Either the whole string or two small pieces)

If you had sex with a girl who had it, did you have to be more careful or slow?

Am I crazy for doing it myself? :D

I can't answer all of your questions, but here's what I know:

Most girls are clueless about what their hymens are like, or that they even have one. Many just think they are "tight", when a more correct interpretation is that they are still "sealed" - as in, their "factory seal" is still in place. Obviously they aren't completely closed in most cases, the hymen just restricts the entrance to the vagina to a much smaller hole.

I'd guess that the vast majority of girls have their hymen ruptured during their first time (or three) of intercourse, without ever having known what it looked like, so any less-common variations are probably just not known about by most girls. It's only if they are unable to achieve penetration that most women will seek a doctor's assistance.

And finally, it's not at all unusual for women to maintain some remnants of their hymen for years. In most cases, it eventually tears away with sex, but many girls have a piece or two still attached. It's no big deal, as long as it isn't causing them discomfort.

Maybe you should just let it be until you decide to have sex and your partner can of course rip the rest of you hymen. I don't think your crazy I've known other girls who broke their own hymens.
