Be Careful Who You Talk to Online

This myTake wants to be a few things: an outburst, a warning and a story.

How many of you have had something online in terms of friendships and relationships? Probably, with the new technologies and the large number of social media, we all have.

These friendships and relationships are characterized most of the time for being long distance, so we end up talking for several hours a day, everyday, to someone we have never met before. Why do we do that? Probably online it's easier as we show people only what we want to show, probably we like the idea of the "foreigner", or of someone who's just different from us, probably we are less shy online or prettier or more confident or we can be as weird as we want. There are a lot of reasons but is it always right and especially SAFE to do that? I'm going to say definitely not.

Be Careful Who You Talk to Online

Here comes the part of this myTake who wants to be a story. I've been in a romantic relationship with a guy met on Instagram, we have been together for 10 months. We are from two different countries but we have met in person as well. He was really perfect, caring, smart and funny. Although he wanted to break up with me (this is another story), and he told me 13 reasons why he didn't want to keep having a relationship with me. One of the reasons really made me curious (he said he's had other accounts all the time), so I started doing a lot of researches and I've found out that he had schizoid personality disorder, autism, psychopath traits, pathological lying disorder and other stuff.

What I'm trying to tell you is that you have to be careful when you start chatting with someone because you'll never truly know who you're talking to. Obviously bad things happen between a wife and a husband after years of marriage and probably I was just unlucky. But seriously be careful, don't trust strangers too much and take care.

What about you? Have you ever met someone who you started talking to online? Do you have any similar experiences?
