Cat calling is not approaching a person and telling her/him "You look very pretty". In most cases they are gross and creepy, very obtrusive and sometimes agressive. Making somebody feel scared is doing harm.

i've been with women who've been catcalled right in my face & women over exaggerate this just like almost everything else whenever someone "catcals" the girls i've walked around town with, the just laugh & say "thanks". then they go about their day like the planned women over exaggerate things and this is one of those things.
@Owner seriously? You really should think about this and what you are saying... Because you're the one who isn't listening to women about this topic. If sooo many women feel afraod or harrassed while catcalled, it is a problem. Regardless of what you think of the topic, like that women should 'toughen up'. Yes, basically. I think you might have some issues. You could just own up to your comments with your profile here. Not many would be able to figure out your true identity. There isn’t nothing you can do about other people stating their opinion, as “rude” as it might be, they have that right So you’re only choice is to toughen up.
That's not how the amendment works Women can't control other peoples opinions, but they can control who they go out with , what area they're In & what they wear. You ever wonder why police don't care about catcalling? because its not a big deal. Call a policeman because you've been catcalled & you could possibly get in trouble for wasting the time of the law.
Its good guys like me that get tired of women's bullshit & speak my mind You're the type to get heartbroken & cry on some girls door step I'm the type to get cheated on & sleep with the cheaters mom, see the difference?
This whole article just screams to me a lack of empathy and understanding on your part. Of course, it didn't bother YOU, so why should it bother anyone else? Girls should be FLATTERED that a guy aggressively shouts sexual things at them. And after all, many girls are guilty of finding certain men attractive as they walk by, so really they're just mad that guys have the balls to say their gross things out LOUD.
Don't make a habit of telling other people how to feel about something that you don't understand.

I kind of agree with what you're saying but it really depends on the girl and the type of comment the guy makes. If it's a somewhat nice comment, it's not so bad and I personally can get over it. But for the men who check a girl out up and down with this look on their face (you know the look I'm talking about) and make a straight forward disgusting comment, it's hard to get over that. I personally feel very sexualized and gross if a guy just thinks his horn at me while I'm walking on the street. It's not flattering. It makes me somewhat self conscious tbh
Most of the catcalls I receive is borderline harassment and I ain't no punk. Why do you think I carry a weapon? A lot of these men are intimidating and aggressive. Now you may proceed with your foolishness.
P. S. I have catcalled as payback for them doing it and because I'm mocking the men who do it, it's not the same effect, they actually think it's funny, also this is not something the majority of females do.

because it is funny, you all over exaggerate everything.
When I get catcalled, I feel objectified and annoyed 100% of the time because I'm aromantic and asexual. But I never feel scared because I'm not physically susceptible to getting hurt by them. When a woman gets catcalled by a man, it would trigger a sense of danger. She's probably doesn't find the man attractive or she might not be attracted to men in general. If unfamiliar men start making sexual comments to a woman on the street, she's going to feel scared and intimidated because she doesn't know what to expect and she might get hurt for ignoring them. Catcalling isn't complimenting, it's sexual harassment...
Can you stop labelling yourself? I don't give a damn that you are asexual. Stop being biased about your sexuality. You are not a special snowflake because of your sexuality you are just another human being. And if men or children get catcalled on the street, it makes them feel weak too. Women aren't the only victims... anyone can be a victim.
I won't stop labeling and I don't give a damn that you don't care. Anyone can be a victim but it's not common for men to feel "weak" and vulnerable after getting catcalled.
I agree that a lot of people "Cat Call" (I:e: That they notice features on people and maybe comment on it to their friends or keep it to themselves) - I believe that is okay but I am not so sure about expressing loudly or shouting it to a random stranger. I don't agree with they are trying to get the person's attention - It would not be described as flirtacious move that is swiftly followed by a genuine expression of interest with the possibility of a positive response. Leaving aside the whole disrespectful argument it strikes me as being really immature and totally useless to a person's social development. You probably are right about one thing if every one ignored it and deprived the catcallers of the oxygen of attention, it may possibly fade into extinction. One good thing it will save on the laundry bill, all those premature ejaculations in their jeans.
A 30 year old man should not tell an woman (especially not underaged girls) that she “looks good” but she “would look better in my bed”. It’s happened to me along with various similar comments.
@innocent_ You can control other peoples speech, but you can control what you wear Part of being an adult is making hard choices If you want to dress half naked, then go ahead but expect people to notice. If you don't, then don't & you dont have to worry about people noticing you was it really that hard? Christ.
Why should a girl control her dressing style? Why some a**holes can't change their mindset? People who think that way should be ashamed😠 Often victims are declared as a person with loose morals by some shallow minded people, that's not true
" Women do it too "... errrrr no they do not... not female nature at all ! Here in the UK , it's , thankfully VERY rare , almost unheard of , as not in the culture here , as strangers rarely interact , unless they have to. It's NOT exactly a way to win over a woman , it's embarrassing for decent men , we get bashed enough as it is for just friggin' existing , this makes most women feel vulnerable & also gives ammo to the man hating feminists , perpetuating the " media " image of men as sex crazed morons !!
Cat calling is a form of verbal sexual harassment. If that is the case then a group of men should cat call you and see how you like it. If you dont like it, why should we?
A group of men? I will have you know that many women and disturbingly children do it too. Be happy you got a single compliment about your looks. There are people out there who don't get a single compliment and some get insults.
I really don't get why women have such a problem with it (the number of times random drunk girls have groped my ass...). Having said that, you can't fail to be aware that the vast majority of them do feel that way, so with that in mind, it's obviously very disrespectful (and not only that, but pointless - what do these guys think they're going to achieve?)
You mean disrespecting them, princess. You seem very weak and sensitive, I have been catcalled by 50 year old women, I have to toughen up. Not everyone in the world is the same.
@Epictimmytam Well Princess I disagree. Yes we judge guys bodies and guys judge ours. That wasn't even the point. The point is if the girl doesn't know you and feel safe around you, so keeping your mouth shut is best. Unless it's to make an appropriate conversation for a stranger. Have you never heard of rape? The thought this person is already treating you like an object and you don't know them, so how much farther are they willing to objectify you? Are they going to try raping you or stalking you? It's hard to say about someone you never met. That is really the biggest part of the scenario and why cat calling should never happen. You want to make polite conversation, then that is fine.
@Wwwyzzerdd Where did I claim you don't know what it's like? I was saying the world is more dangerous for women so it gives us fear, especially when walking alone.
@Wwwyzzerdd well look up rape statistics. Also are you really afraid of a little old lady? Come on! Most men are taller then most women. You are obviously living in a fantasy world if you don't think men are more aggressive. Testosterone in itself causes people to be more agressive. Or are you suggesting women have more testosterone then men? Haha
Guys are treated like nothing but a piece of meat every second of every day of their lives and you're butthurt because you sometimes get the tiniest little taste of what that's like.
@Epictimmytam "you do it to us so we'rs going to do it to you" is NOT the way to solve shit.
And by the way, most women dont. you're just putting it on all women, (the way we tend to put negative shit on all men) just remember that while the negatives feel bigger and more consistent than the positives they almost always aren't.
@BaileyisDarcy No, actually, some guys get all the good treatment and most get nothing but bad treatment from women, and that's why most men learn to hate women eventually.
Which is fine when you're young and pretty and all you want to do is party with strapping young alpha male types, but when you get old and wrinkly, those types are going to start looking for younger girls and you'll be left with a population of 80% betas who all fucking hate you. Good luck!
@Bananaman177 boy the only "parties" i attend are those were i can have me sip of cider, play a good game of werewolf, and fall asleep somewhere safe because thats what happens when i drink.
I dont party with "strapping young alpha male types" i play card games with nerdy, sometimes stupid, guys with a sense of humour who wouldn't in a million years consider fucking OR dating me because they know what a bitch i can be.
@Bananaman177 ... well no, im actually quite nice in person. Im just a bitch to the people Im either friends with or only know online XD And i meant that sarcastically, obviously didn't come across that way, my bad, theyre just not into me either cause theyre gay, already IN a relationship, or just cause im not their type. They wouldn't be FRIENDS with me if they just didn't like me, duh.
No, I asked you to back up your opinion with facts. Data. The burden of proof is not on me to defend YOUR argument. You made a baseless assertion without fact to legitimize it. If you were trying to change my opinion you failed.
Everyone differently by nature and background. What small issues for someone maybe big issues for another. I can't judge anything with my standard too till I offended by anonymous of throlls my standard would be use judge them. About the topic, what can judge catcalling is rude or simple I think it is common sense of manner (both girls and guys manner). Im Asian and I stand for what right from wrong and still believe that what we treat another people show background of our family.(Im talking about harassed meaning by CC.)
@FýrdracaDócincel If someone yelled out to your mom or your sister that they want to take her and fuck her brains out and cum all over her face THEN when she tries to ignore it they call her a stuck up bitch or other insults or even worse but common follow her, that wouldn't be a big deal? Mk. Why don't you show them this thread then, see how they feel?
1 With my mom no it actually wouldn’t be My mom has been in search for a man for years.
2 I actually have 2 sisters, The eldest one has her own apartment so I wouldn’t know anyways, the older one is gay & dresses more masculine than I do so she’s not getting catcalled.
Neither of those would bother me You can try again.

No, I am not saying that, but why should bottle up their emotions when someone is disrescting them?

The thought this person is already treating you like an object and you don't know them, so how much farther are they willing to objectify you? Are they going to try raping you or stalking you? It's hard to say about someone you never met. That is really the biggest part of the scenario and why cat calling should never happen. You want to make polite conversation, then that is fine.
I've been catcalled. Happens to men too. So your argument "you don't know what it's like!" falls flat.
@Wwwyzzerdd Where did I claim you don't know what it's like? I was saying the world is more dangerous for women so it gives us fear, especially when walking alone.
More dangerous? That's a matter of opinion. Can you back that up with statistics?
So calm your tits.
@BaileyisDarcy I'm sure everybody knows that without even having to talk to you.
@Bananaman177 ... well no, im actually quite nice in person. Im just a bitch to the people Im either friends with or only know online XD
And i meant that sarcastically, obviously didn't come across that way, my bad, theyre just not into me either cause theyre gay, already IN a relationship, or just cause im not their type. They wouldn't be FRIENDS with me if they just didn't like me, duh.
@BaileyisDarcy I know exactly who you're nice to and I also know exactly why you're nice to them, and so do you.
Parasite.
@Bananaman177 boy, you're funny.
@BaileyisDarcy I know, right?
So you're probably thinking, "What now?"
Hmm, what now indeed? You have nothing.
Behind all your masks, the big secret is, there's nobody there.

I hope your sister and your mother gets cat called every time they step out the door. It wouldn't be a big deal right?
As someone who has both.. no it really wouldn't :D
1
With my mom no it actually wouldn’t be
My mom has been in search for a man for years.
2
I actually have 2 sisters,
The eldest one has her own apartment so I wouldn’t know anyways, the older one is gay & dresses more masculine than I do so she’s not getting catcalled.
Neither of those would bother me
You can try again.
