Both really. You may be the best person I've met but I won't want anything to do with you if you've murdered someone. I would be wary of a guy who'd dated like 30 girls before me, like I was wary of the fact that every girl my boyfriend has dated, left him first. Someone's character can be faked, whereas their reputation can't (aside from bullies I guess) so I'd definitely trust their reputation more, though it depends on what they did. I personally don't like the idea of people believing rumours about me and getting an idea of me that way, I would prefer them to know me first, but it doesn't bother me that much.
Both are important. There isn't supposed to be a choice of one over the other.Usually the reputation follows the character, but some times, reputation can be motivation for a change in character.Reputation and character can have different value at different times, and differences in characters don't always spell 'better' or 'worse'. Values and principles rank more importantly than even character and reputation.E. g., Justice doesn't equate to fairness. Think batman vs Ras Al Ghul. Same idea, different methods, both equally shitty character. It's down to which you prefer.

Character is the most important thing to me. Your reputation is based on what others think. You cannot control what your reputation is. Others will develop that for you based on what they think. Often your reputation is based on the facts of your behavior but can be way out of line with who you really are.But your character is who you really are. Your character is who you are when no one else is around.
This really isn't a question. Your reputation is basically your character as other people interpret it. It can be interpreted wrong. Some people have great reputations, because they can hide their true character. Other people have terrible reputations despite having a good character because they are misunderstood. Tragic.
I think sometimes, not always, criticism from a bad reputation can make you a better character. Not always of course. if you have good friends, then this could be. So I think they get mixed, but of course character is much more important. You do it the way you do because you like not because others do.
To be seen for your character you need a good reputation in the real world, how many people look at your personality for your poor reputation? even when its not our fault, people will base you on what happened in the past, are you in a rich position, not for some-one as just a good person. That is how people can perceive you, there are sometimes that nice minority :)How people see me for either is not important to me unless I was in a legal battle! lol.
You can have good character but have a reputation of a coward or a loser. You can be a liar and a cheater but have a reputation of being very intelligent. So it kind of contradicts itself. Both play a role, yet one is what you actually are and one is what people see. People see what they want but you are who you are.
Easy character is a lot harder to break than reputation its who you are it makes what you see , what you see if that makes any sense (think a cup half empty or half full) it also makes or breaks you when people try to put you down
"Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are." John Wooden
My character as its defined and shaped be me and me alone. Reputation is given to me by other people's judgments and perceptions of me.
Voted A. Only those who don't know my character will be forced to judge me by my reputation which is highly unimportant to me!
I am of good character, but retain deliberately a bad reputation. That way, if someone sees my character and considers it over my reputation, I know they are worth my time.
Everyone loves my character, so I dont have anything to worry about, I just would like more people to know about me. So i care more about rep because thats how i am viewed by the public.
Definitely A, but doesn't your character make your reputation?[after typing, realized @Matheus_mb already displayed my thoughts] Kudos~
Yeah, brilliant minds think the same way haha
Both are important, I suppose - but A is clearly the most important one.
Reputation? Hah. Fuck everyone elses opinion on me. Ill concentrate on making myself happy, not you.
Character. A reputation is only what people say about you, even if it's true we've all made bad choices at some point, learning from that experience and becoming a better person shows character.
If you have strong character, your reputation will also show it.
i really don't care about the reputation as long as i know the truth and what i really am i don't care what others think about me at all
What I am. I live to impress my self the most, so if I know I'm not the real deal, everyone else believing I am won't mean shit.
obviously A. but im still milking B at the same time.
I could give a fuck what anyone thinks of me, you dont like me its your fuckin problem not mine
this is how I feel.
reputation... because the word "reputation" remnds me of reputation votes in forums :-P
I am, what others see.So basically it's [A] - Character.
What you are is always more important than what people think you are.
The real me is all that's importante & I could CARE LESS what people see & or think of me !!!
Character generally makes your reputation.
Character, but obviously both matter.
Of course her character.
I really don't care about reputation at all.
Our character forms our reputation.
They sort of come hand in hand.
sooooo not true.
@thewanderingme it does if I didn't know you on a personal level.
I understand what you mean. Reputation unfortunately spreads your "character" to people. Depends on whoever got to know you to spread that information.
@JackKerouac77 precisely thissss
I have good self retirees
The difference between reputation and character is the difference between someone who cheats and doesn't get caught (maintains reputation), vs someone who genuinely doesn't cheat in the first place. (Or lies, steals etc.)
I don't give a damn about a bad reputation!
