The idea thats being implanted in our minds to not be proud of the good of your society is cancerous and more importantly dangerous. So yes, i am proud of the things my country does right, i am proud of Western Culture and i think we should take back the aspects of it that we have lost to this endless indoctrination that we are allegedly awful.
i sure do feel very patriotic... i think at some point we all hate our countries... but then when someone bitches your country infant of you... you go all hands down tanks over your face mode cuz no-one can bitch my country except me hahahaha
No, I don't consider myself patriotic at all. Sometimes I feel like I have no country...
I believe it's good to like your country, support it, try to improve it, but over devotion is bad. Just because you love your country doesn't mean that you should hate all the other countries or consider them inferior. And yes, that does create divisions among countries.
Yes I do. I care for and respect America, and I think its rich with culture and style. But I am against nationalism as a concept, it is the dangerous cousin of patriotism that fell in with the wrong crowd and joned a cult. I think too much devotion can lead to murderous mentalities.
no. i don't pledge nor say the anthem. once i was walking through a crowd during the national anthem in DC maybe last year, and an old white man reached out and told me to stop. like you aren't my mother. you're not the president. you aren't my master. this isn't the 18th century. us americans need to chill out. they're just WORDS.
You don't choose the country of your birth. It's good to appreciate what your country has if it has a good system in place and is good to the people (good healthcare, education, etc), but overall patriotism segregates the world. Even in sports people will kill you in another country if you say you support another team. It's crazy.
I am fiercely patriotic regarding my country. More lately as I see our British Values being eroded constantly. We are not a perfect country, no country is, but have a lot of values and achievements that we should be very proud of, not to mention an indigenous working class population that have been totally betrayed by successive treasonous governments.
@Riggers Thankfully, the parties I go to don't involve country flag waving and constitution humping, for me to ruin them with my non-conformist beliefs.
Not being funny.. But.. Is there even any point of being alive with a mentality so fucking bleak as that? You seem to hate everything and everyone and your ideology you favour would involve the world going to shit.
Again, Have fun at your party of uh.. I don't know.. i doubt even suicide cults have parties depressing enough for your beliefs, but, you do you brah.
I like my country, the US, but I don't have blind patriotism. I dislike those that cannot not see that as good as they may believe their own country is, they cannot and do not recognize that even with all the good, in every country there is a fair amount of bad in which said country hurts others or it's own people in what it's doing whether you support that or not. I think that this is the ugly side of patriotism that leads to discord around the world.
I do consider myself quite patriotic. I don't think patriotism is bad, actually, it's pretty good, it tends to unite the country and make it move forward. It doesn't necessarily have to create division between countries as long as the patriotism doesn't turn into ultranationalism. There's a difference between loving your country and respecting others, and loving your country and believing every other country is below you.
Not particularly. To me the idea of being proud to be British or proud to be American (or whatever) doesn't make a lot of sense. Pride should be reserved for something you have accomplished. Nationality is not one of those things. Do I love my country? Absolutely. I would much rather live here than most other countries in the world. But the idea of taking pride in something I have not personally contributed to just seems kinda odd to me.
I'm from the Philippines, and no, I'm not very patriotic. I'm proud of a few things Filipinos are, but ashamed of the other things my countrymen do.
I do think that sometimes over devotion is bad, and it does create some division between countries. It's basically mostly pride that causes such in my opinion
I've been on and off about being patriotic. I'm American but as I learn more about the bad side of America I change my perspective but at the same time things like 9/11 and Larry the Cable guy make me patriotic

I'm from America and I'd rather be Irish. So no, I'm not very patriotic. If anything, I'm pretty embarrassed being in America because of Trump.
"Build a wall!" "No more immigrants!" Trump is an idiot. He's pretty much just asking for trouble, which I'm pretty sure he is.
Illegal immigrants.

No, I'm anti-patriotic, anti-authoritarian, and I believe that patriotism is a brainwashing tool to control the simple minded.
I bet you're fun at parties
@Riggers
Thankfully, the parties I go to don't involve country flag waving and constitution humping, for me to ruin them with my non-conformist beliefs.
Riggers 😂😂😂😂😂😂 MHR
anti-patriotic, anti-authoritarian, misanthropic, left-libertarian, market anarchist, antitheist, MGTOW, existential nihilist. (According to profile too).

Loll
I'm glad to live in one of the (objectively) best countries in the world. But no I'm not really patriotic.
which country?
Finland.
I do consider myself quite patriotic.

No I am not patriotic towards my country. I am more patriotic towards the world as a whole.
aw nice
I agree. I think more people should view themselves as a member of a global community instead of resorting to tribalism.
I've been on and off about being patriotic. I'm American but as I learn more about the bad side of America I change my perspective but at the same time things like 9/11 and Larry the Cable guy make me patriotic
I always go back to... I can’t love my country but not the government. And I’ll stick to that
