Should people be fined for Misgendering others?

In many places in the US you can be fined for swearing, so should we do the same for misgendering someone?

I think a small fine something like 50 dollars might make people think twice before assuming someones pronouns.

  • Nope. I'm against compelled speech.

  • I think the people who really get so uptight about such petty, trivial things need to be admitted to an asylum since they are apparently incapable of functioning in society, or surviving in the real world.

  • What the fuck? Hell no! Laws are meant for crimes, and someone taking offence is not a crime, because technically, anyone can be offended by anything.

  • Misgendering. If you are a weirdo where one can't tell whether you are a boy or a girl, then the androgynous weirdo should be fined for causing confusion.

  • No, and you should not be fined for swearing either. That's a fucking violation of the fucking First Amendment.

Response to Update: That's bullshit because there is no universally accepted definitions of genders.

For instance, let's go with The Oxford English Dictionary's definitions. After all, it is the "Guardian of the English Language".

      OED Definition of Male:
Of or denoting the sex that produces gametes, especially spermatozoa, with which a female may be fertilized or inseminated to produce offspring.

      OED Definition of Female:
Of or denoting the sex that can bear offspring or produce eggs, distinguished biologically by the production of gametes (ova) which can be fertilized by male gametes.

So, an M2F "female" is still a male and a F2M "male" is still a female.

So, I am still going to say that "Caitlin Fucking Jenner" is a guy and I don't care how much he feels like a woman inside.

Now, I have to admit, I don't have a problem with Bruce... uh, Caitlin Jenner living as a female and desiring to be referred to as female, and I may just refer to him with female pronouns, but no fucking way am I going to pay 1 single red cent for a fine because I said "him" or "he" or "his" or whatever before, when you get right down to it, he's a dude.

  • Unless they get fined for miss-gendering themselves first... nope. And how would that work with gender fluid?

Also the law doesn't legislate based on feelings, only facts.

  • Then people would be afraid of commenting on other people's babies.

  • Hell no. Were allowed to say whatever we want, offending someone is not a misdemeanor.

  • Of course not. It's one of the most ludicrous ideas I've heard of. No one has a right to force another to call them something specific, especially not if it goes against said persons principles. Leftists think they can compel the world to adapt to their fantasies, they demand tolerance but refuse to give it.

It goes against the most basic notion of individual freedom and right to believe what you will.

I'm not ever going to call a man a woman or a woman a man just because some maniac liberal shouts in my face, because it isn't biologically possible or natural, nor is it right. And I'd like to see them try and make me.

  • Not if you don't want sex related segregation, cause if it happened to me transgender and gay people are going to have to find other places to socialise and congregate away from me.

  • Are fucking stupid, are you them to take all of are freedoms away. That is my free speech your messing with there

  • No, because they don't know at the start what you're pronouns are and any law that prohibits the freedom of speech is unconstitutional

  • no, people should not be punished only for misgendering

  • That would be retarded. If you don't want to be misgendered, dress and act the part.

It's really not a big deal to assume someone's pronouns, for christ's sake.

  • No, especially if it was just an accident.

What they "want" to be called has nothing to do with legislation. I persons who earn $200k a year to have to give me $100... heah it doesn't hold water.

You cannot legislate someone to ignore biological facts to appease someone's feelings or mental disorder.
