racism to some extent is a form of protection. Racism is built upon stereotypes. e. g if you saw a gang of black hooded tall men all in a stood in a circle and its night time then i would cross the road because of the presumptions. I have nothing against black people, for all i know those people in that group could be the most nice people i could ever meet but its stereotypes that form the racist judgements and they can be helpful because in that same situation they could have done terrible things to me like rob me but i stayed away from them. So i think everyone is racist to some degree but what makes people racist to extreme degrees is bad experience and stereotypes going too far.
let me rephrase, racism isn't to some extent a form of protection but stereotypical judgements are. racism is being discriminatory towards a certain category, race, colour so racism doesn't benefit anyone
To a certain extent, I agree with you. Human beings instinctively will judge their surroundings and people around them. They make connections in their head. If all the black people you met in your life acted a certain way, then you will suspect that the next black guy will act the same. I don't think it's a totally bad thing. It just happens in our minds.
Well explained. To a certain extent we can be racist against our own race too.
I am judgmental of other people not because of their colour but because of their practices as a culture. I am judgmental of them because they are rude, not clean, think they're superior than me. If that makes me racist then so be it but I always thought I was judging the individual not the group...
Thanks for ba
No, you're thinking of prejudice, where a person negatively pre-judges another person or group without taking the time to learn about their beliefs, thoughts, and feelings behind their words and actions. Racisim involves a power dynamic; indeeming another race to be inferior.
Have an opinion?
no i don't think everyone is racist to some extent... i feel like this is an excuse people have to validate having racist feelings
People tend to categorize people involuntarily. It's not necessarily bad. But it is bad to use it as a base of judgement.
No. Honestly I don't see color. I see people, and that's honestly it. The color of one's skin is really just caused by pigment coloration and genetics obviously, but it isn't cause for someone to look down or distrust another person, solely based on that factor. It's disgusting.
I think that society is very good at putting thoughts into peoples heads about things like race and we all grow up with little notions or ideas of stereotypes. I do not think it's full-blown racism but I do think that the majority of people are influenced against other races at one point or another.
By todays definition yes, its natural and good feeling. You should feel that your ethnic group has a right to self preservation What is worth preserving? something that is righteous and good.I dont trust people who dont think that their people dont have something better to offer than others. Thats the beauty of diversity and how diversity is maintained.
Racism no. But some preconceived notions or subconscious behaviors always exist. And that's just the result of thousands of years of history, culture and psychology. It's how the world works. So those who make a fuss over it are just going to have to learn that they can't change that, and it isn't the end of the world.
Actual racist? No. Frsnkly, I hate when if you make a comment or say a word people say "that's racist." It's stupid. I think most people (hopefully) would agree that true racism is vile. Even prejudice is disgusting (ex. When I hear people making negative comments about "white men", yet it's racist to talk about "black people" but they don't because they're compensating and trying to make up for something), which seems to be the trend It's gross. Just treat everyone fair. We're all human.
Don't confuse in group preference with racism. Preferring being with your own is normal. Same reason why smart people rather hang out with other smart people. I'm no genius but at 135 IQ I notice when talking to other people like me. I can give half answers yet they understand perfectly. Refer without context to some past event and they will quickly figure out what I'm want by intuition. This applies to culture and aesthetics aswell.
I beleive there's a primal racism, but only to the point of recognizing someone is different to the rest dating back to tribal days. I don't think there is an inherent malice.
I'd say a little. But I don't believe all racism is bad. Only the racism that comes from hate. It would be racist for me to say Italians make the best Italian food. But it's not said out of hate.
I don't think everyone is racist but I do think that everyone with an IQ over 70 has at least some prejudice. Prejudice can keep you alive on the streets.
No. Everyone has the ability to be prejudice but not racist. Racism goes beyond prejudice.
Absolutely. We have an innate desire to be wary of those different from us. But so what? as long as you're not actively discriminating against others what's the harm?
No, not if we're talking about actual racism. If you're talking about the lefts version of racism yeah but only if you're not black.
Yes they are.Or at least “certain people” believe they are and cry race any chance they get.
Racism exists BUT should exist. People of certain ethnicities buy into certain cultures at a significantly higher level than others. For example, if a black guy and an Asian guy are standing before you, which is more likely to listen to rap and wear rocawear? Who is more likely to be able to cook fried rice? You can say the PC answer that you dont know all day but if I gave you a million dollars to bet, y'all FUCKING KNOW WHO IS WHO. DONT GIVE ME THAT SHIT! lol and so thats why we have and should have some amount of racism. When people of different races act together in certain ways, we will group them by race. When people stop doing that, we will stop associating race as a good way of grouping people. Its that simple.
I agree. If it's not said out of hatred I don't see it as a bad thing.
I agree with LuvAsh. I think people are more prejudice than racist.
It's not the color of your skin, it the content of your character that determines my prejudice against you. I'm black
Everyone has bias views of Someone and that is proven not necessarily racist but it’s not nice.
Check yourself and be aware of it.
Only racists say this so they can feel less guilty.
I'm only racist to idiots not the colour of there skin or race
No. Racism requires both hatred and irrational judgement.
People now a days use this term to get what they want.
I think so cause it tend to be lot of times we stick to our own cultures.
Also could be an elitist, about a person status.
No not at all.
Sorry but you're a racist yourself. To some extent
@Nadim171 Racist against whom? 1. Do you know what a "race" is?2. Do you have a dictionary? Look up the term racist. Stop making up definitions on your own or taking definitions from "White" supremacist sites. Those sites are less than reputable.
According to Google (which I don't agree with) if you hate a culture you're a racist. And you hate white culture
@Nadim171 You don't have to agree with it. I just wanted to make it clear, you created your own definition, just to make the claim I am racist. And no, I am not "racist" against a culture. I have traveled this earth to try to get exposed to as many cultures as I can before I die.I am a lover of people young sir. And I would encourage you to go back and actually read the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Jesus has been clearly against racism, so am I. But modern black culture:"the nigga and gangsta" thing, like destroying police cars and selling drugs is comeptley heathen like
@Nadim171 "But modern black culture:"the nigga and gangsta" thing, like destroying police cars and selling drugs is comeptley heathen like."Something is seriously wrong with you. Are you a terrorist? Do you beat women? Do you chop people's heads off because of their religious beliefs? And here you are talking about me being racist against a culture. I could never engage in the stereotyping of Egyptians because of what a few in your culture do. The only thing you can tell me is what insane fruitcake "White" supremacists tell you. You know nothing of me nor do you know anything about my culture. If you are a racist, just be one and understand you are not a servant of Christ. Your beliefs come from someplace else.
I cannot be a white supremacist since I'm not a European. That's why I said according to Google's detention I'm a racist, according to other definitions I'm not. I'm Arab, and I don't like Arab (Islamic) culture. Not a few do these things, everyone who claims to be a Muslim takes part of this. I don't dislike people based on their race, because if it was like that I would dislike myself. I dislike them based on the religion and the culture they chose. And those in modern black culture like BLM are heathens.
@Nadim171 What does "White" supremacy have to do with being "White"? Like I said, read the dictionary definition of racism."a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race."And one thing we know is that you do not consider "White" people in any way inferior to any one else. Not even to the group you might claim to be apart of. Non-"Whites" have a particular way of participating in the "White" supremacist belief system. I won't even begin to get into the issues of defining race/genetic groupings. Because you are not capable of understanding just how silly the notion of race is.So let's just stick to your weirdness of claiming race equals cultural behaviors/beliefs.Your project these superior behaviors/beliefs onto "White" people. And you seek to emulate what you think "Whiteness" is. For you, when you look in the mirror, you see the exception to your group. The reason why you are "acceptable" is because you reject basically everything about yourself, your culture, your history to adopt what you think is the "White" replacement. Its like you try to define yourself in how un-Egyptian or un-Arab you can be. When you have nothing to be ashamed of, or to apologize for, or to explain about your culture or people. But you don't realize that. And you throw stones at other non-"White" groups. Especially the un-named weird "Black" one. Because that is what you think "White" people do. When that isn't true. It is what "White" supremacists are obsessed with. That's pretty much the driving force behind your obsession with talking about race relations in the U. S.Which you know absolutely nothing about.
Ok, really things are mixed up here. My real aim is to spread Christianity, you Could say I'm a 21th century missionary. I have nothing to be ashamed of. But I can't, as a Christian to adopt Arab culture because it's 100% connected to Islam. Race might not be related to being superior but it's obvious that in the last at least 5 centuries the white man was in every way more intelligent, powerful and mighty than other races. Also, the church is built by white men, the Pope was always a white man, the Vatican is in Rome, in Europe. Blacks are mostly pagans or atheists, arabs are mostly Muslim, Asians are mostly pagan or marxists, jews are christ killers, but Europeans were always Christian.
I guess now you'd think of me as unpatriotic. But that's so untrue. If I support current day Egypt I'd be actually unpatriotic. Egypt shouldn't be an Islamic country. Moses was born here, Joseph lived here, the holy family escaped here, st mark was here... but I don't consider it Egypt anymore after it was sacked by muslims. Egypt should be part of bizantine again.
@Nadim171 There isn't one single Bible passage where Christ mentions race. But it comes out of your mouth in every other sentence. And no, its weird that I know more about Arab Culture than you. I know Christian Arabs. And they have not forgotten their culture. They simply do not practice Islam. I even dated a Christian Arab woman. And stop hiding. You are a "White" supremacist. You simply can't join the race at this current time. But don't worry. There may be a method via skin whitening creams or some kind of medical procedure that can make you indistinguishable from being "White". Then you can join the group. Just make sure you lie about your ancestry and heritage. You can pretend to be Scottish or something, that way you won't have to carry around the burden of being inferior like the rest of us brown folks. But you probably couldn't have children. You might spit out a brown one. That would be bad!"Also, the church is built by white men, the Pope was always a white man, the Vatican is in Rome, in Europe. "No he wasn't always a "White" man."Blacks are mostly pagans or atheists, arabs are mostly Muslim, Asians are mostly pagan or marxists, jews are christ killers, but Europeans were always Christian. "No they aren't. You know nothing. Jesus probably looked more like you than he did like anyone else. And you keep inserting race where Christ specifically references none. The Lord is my Shepherd, I do not follow a Pope. There is no position of Pope in the Gospel. Jesus commanded us to follow two sacraments. That is to go out in to the world Baptizing the converted in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Then second is Holy Communion. Jesus was born in Bethlehem, a few short miles away from Jerusalem. Historically, have those people been born with blonde hair and blue eyes?
@Nadim171 I don't care about your patriotism. You can dislike your government without disliking your culture. You can choose to be a Christian without disliking the history, the culture, the traditions, that are responsible for who you are.You don't have to apologize for Muslim extremism. Unless you are a Muslim extremist. Just like you defend "White" people from burden of "White" supremacy. If they don't believe in it, don't practice, don't defend it, then it isn't their fault or their business.
Again? Really? First of all I'm not brown, arabs are not even brown, some are some aren't. I'm not as white as European but just light skinned, I could be considered like a Spanish or a Greek. I don't want to join white supremacists, I don't even like white supremacists and we have major differences. Jesus wasn't brown, he was a jew and most Jews have yellowish hair, like most Jewish rabbis you'd see. Arab culture and Egyptian Christian culture (Coptic culture) aren't the same at all. Christian Egypt was a mix of Coptic orthodox and Greek orthodox culture, since Egypt was part of bizantine. Most copts aren't arabs, and mostly have ancient Egyptian (the brown ones) and Greek (the olive skinned ones) ancestry. Greeks originally looked more like arabs, until they mixed with sladivacian whites (which used to be slaves). I don't care about my ancestry, let's say my ancestors were Islamic knights, who cares? No one Carriers the sins of his grandparents. How many times do I have to say that I'm not against any race, just against certain cultures. For example I love Nigerian Christians and they're 100% black, they're not gangstas, they don't sell drugs and they don't rape women. I love Lebanese Christians and they're Arab, because they have great culture, food etc...
And it comes out of my mouth in every sentence becasue you insist to talk about it... lol. I'm not ashamed of who I am, my race etc... and again IM NOT BROWN. cuz you insist to repeat that. Jesus redeemed all people from all races. The bible says the God of the jew is the God of the Greek (and the God of the rest of people) So, anyone can be saved if they repend
@Nadim171 Dude, I am not here to argue with you about what you think your skin color is. If you are “White”, then be “White”. I cannot help you with your confusion about who you are, what you think your people have done, and/or your insecurity and feelings of inferiority about “Whiteness”.Because I have no inferiority complex when it comes to “White” people. Some are good, some are bad, some are smart, and some ain’t. I have employed all kinds of “White” people. And of course you don’t want to join “White” supremacists. You already are one. What your skin color says is the only thing that seems confusing for you at this time. I wonder if you showed up at a KKK meeting do you think you would be accepted? It would certainly be interesting to find out.And Jesus most assuredly was brown. He was the same “color” as the people who lived in the region he was born in. He was not born with blonde hair and blue eyes. To pretend he was not even being rational. Christian Egypt? It is like you don’t have an even casual relationship with the truth. How can you talk about Christian Egypt when Christianity did not even begin as a religion until Christ died not the cross. What is the problem? You don’t own a Bible? This is basic knowledge for Christians. You claim you are not against any race when you just wrote about how “White” people are superior to everyone else. If that isn’t “White” supremacy, then how is “White” supremacy defined? And if you are going to claim that only the good people in every respective race are the ones who act “White”, then you not only a racist, you are insane. I was raised by “Black” parents, in a “Black” church, with a “Black” pastor in a “Black” community. The reason why I am successful is because of my “Black” upbringing. Not because of some “White” influences. In fact, many times it was “White” people who told me that would not succeed because of my “race”.
@Nadim171 No one carries the sins of his grandparents. . . nor do they carry the virtues of their grandparents. That’s what you keep leaving out.As for who you like or dislike, it is none of my concern. You are talking “gangstas” without realizing the rate of violence and murder in Nigeria is much higher than the African-American community. So if you are going to castigate a community at least get stats on your side. I am uncertain as to why I would hate my own community seeing that the only people who supported me, taught me, fed me, and took care of me when I was a child were “Black” people.I don’t care that you dislike me and my community. You don’t have to post me again in life. But it is you who has slandered my community. I never said anything about yours. You can’t see the beauty of your own culture so I hardly think you would see beauty in any other experience outside of “White” folks.Good luck with that. I hope you don’t destroy yourself with that nuttiness.
@Nadim171 Dude, I don't think you know who you are. You need to figure that out first. If you are "White" be "White" and be happy. If you ain't you ain't. Because truthfully, there are only two races in the fake and phony theory of race. There are "White" folks, and then there is everyone else.I don't know why you think I am trying to classify you. I chosen brown because I have no idea what you think you are.You are easily the most confused person here when it comes to identity because you hate being an Arab. Just stop identifying with being an Arab. And get the paint color you think "White" people are and start painting.I can't do anything with folks who hate themselves and their own experience. I know too many proud Arabs. Just got back from an event with a proud Arab tonight. I am going to show him your posts so he can have a good laugh.I am not certain why I care that Jesus was a Jew. He died on the cross for my sins. Do you get that. Jesus Christ died on the cross for all people. Not just "White" people. Not just the Jews. Because satan is a liar. And he only comes to steal, kill and destroy.
You still insist to confuse culture with race. For example if you really really love Greek culture, you're greek orthodox, you eat Greek food, you have Greek flags in the house, you live In Greece, you know everything about Greek hisotory then you're culturally greek but you're racially black. And therefore your race doesn't matter becaeue you just do everything Greek people do so you'd be considered Greek. Jews aren't grown. Let's say jesus looked like nathenyahu with long hair and a beard. I don't care about my anescators. We all have the same ancestors (Adam and eve) and this isn't something to be proud of. You didn't chose to be black, I didn't chose to be Arab.
That is a complete and total no. It is you that confuse race with culture. The only place one can talk about “White” culture and “Black” culture is in America. Because of the weird confused concept of race. And it is you who constantly talks about “White” and European and mixes up the terms as though Europe is one big culture when it is not. How many world wars and how many of their people do they have to kill before you realize they are not one big racial group? So please stop claiming I am guilty of your confusion. When I traveled throughout Europe, I met Germans, French, Romanians, etc. I didn’t meet “White” people. Almost all the “White” people I know are in America. And I am not a member of a race. If you are that is fine. Race means nothing to me. Just like I said. Don’t accuse me of your confusion. We have no idea of what Jesus looked like. No one had a camera. We only have what scientists have guessed and that the photo that I sent to you. He probably wasn’t a blonde. And it is ridiculous to suggest that. And I am “Black” because of my culture. Not because of your nonsensical definition of race. You don’t even know what it means.
He wasn't a blonde, wasn't black either. Actually the bible describes him as bronze skinned with long white hair. Race means nothing to me either. Being civilized matters
It is really unbelievable that you would claim the Bible describes how Jesus looks like. Name the book, chapter, and verse. And what does the word civil mean to you? Because the things you associate with being civil are questionable at best.
Rev 1:14-15 But brother, I'm so sorry for all the racist things I said, i just thought about all the things I said to you and I clearly said many wrong things, I apologize.
Nadim, I know of no scholar that thinks that is an accurate description of Christ. In the Book of Revelation it is understood John is talking in terms of symbolism. lavistachurchofchrist.org/.../04-10.htmlAs for what you have said. Why apologize? I talk to racists at this forum every other day. And the only thing I ask for is a bit of logic and rational discussion. That’s it.
Well, jesus of course didn't always have white hair, he got it when he got older... but as for the white jesus it's becaeue Europeans drew jesus as one of them, Greeks drew him with Greek feautures. Some greek statues of jesus look like zeus. Blacks in Africa drew jesus like a black African man. Jesus came to be one of us, like humans so everyone draw him to look like them. Are you free to talk in private messages?
Nah man I don’t think so.
Yup everyone is racist and sexist and its fine
Yes of course
Its more prejudice than racism i think.
Possibly. Own group preference is a thing
Yes I beleive so.
Of course it is human nature to group and be protective it’s what made us what we are today but it will probably be what destroys us too
I am an asshole when people use race. When im treated differently because of my race, i treat those same people differently. I hate the race cards too. No one should be different or treated special because of color.
I'm probably the only one who disagrees here but no, I believe that racism is a social construct and has nothing to do with biology. Little children don't understand/recognize the concept of race and racism. They may see a different color but they don't think someone's different/inferior cause of that
Yeah I think so
