Insects and most other creatures do not have a sense of self or an ego so they dont think they have a value
@Pulimuli how do you know?
An advanced alien race with brains ten times our size might laugh at our pitiful excuses for consciousness. Just for comparative example.A spider may not contemplate shakespeare, but surely it must know its alive. It has eyes to see food and it knows it must eat to survive, it runs from the foot that tries to kill it. To call those impulses instinct when they occur in a spider and fear or desire when they occur in our own species seems like a distinction without a difference.
Fear and hunger are instincts. Most animals are purely driven by instincts, and humans are largely driven by them too.Studies have been made on various animals and they have varying degrees of sense of self. Only a few animals can recognize themselves in a mirror image (monkeys and dolphins are among them)Insects brains are too simple to have personality or ego and it would serve no evolutinary purpose, they are much more sufficient at surviving with simpler brains
@Pulimuli does a creature have to understand its own reflection to have an independent consciousness? Even if its instinct and not critical thought that causes a creature to actively seek to perpetuate its own existence, i dont see how that isn't an evaluation. If a spider is an organism that can be reduced deterministically to having no ego, then so are we if a suffiently advanced and even more complex thinking organism than us were to make that judgement.

What if you were retarded and useless?
Are you saying that other species have innate value but humans don't?
@MarketNews / Name one species that has devised a weapon that could destroy an entire planet by one push of a single button? If "innate value" has anything to do with global destruction & pure stupidity, then "we" have certainly earned that gold star!
People aren't born "homeless, jobless, drug-addicted serial rapists/murderers." So perhaps a person is born with innate value, but then loses it if he does terrible things?
@mistixs that's a pretty good way to think about it. You're born with so much potential. Some people unfortunately have that potential stolen from them. Some just ignore it until it's too late. Some use it for destruction instead of creation. Kinda like being born with a trust fund. You can invest it or you can squander it.
@mistixs good reply
You still care about people and their situations , don’t you? Even people you’ve never met, never will meet, right?
So are women. "Jennifer". A woman's purpose is to give birth and raise a child and then be replaced.
Even God fucks up sometimes. If you don't believe me look at Ted Cruz.
That’s exactly why I used the word potential. Case in point Fidel Castro was a brutal dictator. Some place his level of evil up there with Hitler. Yet he was a great baseball player in his youth and had he stuck to playing the game his life would have been radically different. The movie Good Will Hunting uses Ted Cruz as their example of this in fact. In the movie they say Cruz had a brilliant mind and implied if he would have had direction and guidance could have positively influenced the world. We all have free will, decisions in life are made (sometimes by others and not ourselves) and we are pointed down certain paths. I choose to believe everyone has the capacity to be positive but based on choices evil can be a result.
A lot of people do. But that is another question...
They do, but there are other ways to live
Lol some people just can't accept the objective truth
Men wouldn't be here if it wasn't for women 😂
That's wrong, it ain't all subjective man.
It is subjective. If humanity goes extinct not much would change in nature. Cities would crumble and nature would simply grown over it.
Is everything subjective to you?
My comment is not subjective at all.I'm just not as arrogant as to think humans are somehow special just bcs we've developed superior intelligence compared to other species.
There we go, we do have inate value. Thanks.
Only bcs we say we do. it's just a superiority complex
Pretty egotistical if you ask me
@CocoBat but it's God, why wouldn't you want to be His image.
Because he doesn't seem very nice
Because he lets terrible things happen to innocent people and basically doesn't let anyone into heaven which he says he wants, and his first commandment is "don't put any gods before me" how does that not sound arrogant?
Rain falls on the righteous and unrighteous, He doesn't owe us anything. God doesn't want other gods before Him because He considers it idolatry, imagine it this way -- you have a child and you raise them with love and care but they prefer your sister and call her mom. Like God says: "I am a jealous God".
But he hasn't revealed himself, my mother has, and the mother thing is very different, you don't love your mother purely because your mother birthed you, you love your mother because your mother cares for you, and the same goes for fathers, if you love and care for your child they will love you, but there are also abusive and neglectful parents, and usually when that happens the child either grows to hate their parents or seeks a parental figure in somebody else, God has not revealed himself to us, God lets things happen to people that don't deserve it even though he could simple not have it happen, god designed us yes? That means he made us capable of violent acts
Who made man's mouth? The dumb or deaf, seeing or the blind? Was it not God? If your mother or father feeds you daily out of pure love how much more so would it be for God? Enough to let you talk against Him and let you have tomorrow, because He's that much merciful and graceful. Enough to give you, your first gift, your parents. Darling, humans are inherently evil as you can see, but this is not the Lord's fault. We did this, man not God.
Ok so this is what I was trying to say, your mother birthed you, but if she doesn't care for you properly, she is not entitled to get anything back, god may have created us but he does not deserve everyone's worship, the fact he made us doesn't make him entitled to worship and love, why does he want people to pray to him all the time anyways?
Why do you love your mother if I may ask?
I still have some semblance of love left for my mother I think, but my mother is mentally abusive and neglectful, so I don't love her very much, but typical reasons for loving your mother is because she loves you, cares for your needs, helps you grow up and be sucessful in life, not just because she birthed you, God doesn't do any of that, yet he feels he is entitled to worship and love and devotion
Love is investment at its core, God doesn't invest any more than this
What has God done for you?
Oh beloved, if only you could see it. I'm really sorry to hear that your mother is the way she is, but what good is it to resent her? If you love those who only love you, where is the purity in that? Do think you'll ever die for someone even as wicked it can be? Murder, rape, hatred, drunkenness, lies, stealing and so on. The answer is unlikely but there is one person who would, and that person came here two millennia ago -- Jesus Christ of Nazareth, lead as a Lamb into slaughter for you and I. The wicked of wicked, dead and bleeding for us. That's how much God loves you.
I do not resent my mother, I just would rather not be around her anymore, also, the fact he "died" for us does not matter because he's still there yes? So he did not really die, it sounds more like "hey guys I died for you you should love me now", and as I said, love is investment, if somebody means nothing to you why would you love them?
He is willing to take your punishment, that's what it means when He died for us. You and I both lied, stole, cursed and lusted over and over why would we even be alive if we're marinated in sin? God has every right to damn us to hell, yet He doesn't because He waits patiently for more to be saved.
God made sin yes? How else did sin appear since God made everything? That means he punishes us for something HE made
No, the whole entire concept of sin was created when man disobeyed God and listened to the Serpent. God is a good God and does not partake in evil, evil is the absence of God, that's what sin essentially is.
But where did the serpent come from? Did the serpent just appear? And how did man disobey? It's because God made them able to yes?
Theologically, the Serpent is Lucifer (Satan). Lucifer was deluged in sin, and pride was his favorite. Lucifer wanted to wanted to be like God in fact and above it all. He lost sight of what was good and fell and deceived Adam and Eve. Free will is what made Adam and Eve sin, otherwise we'd all be like robots worshiping God. That's not what He wants, it isn't real love.
So Satan just appeared? God is all knowing and omnipotent, can't he just remove Satan? And remove sin? If he can't he is not omnipotent
Is that a yes or no?
