Do you think you would have got your family without your job success?
Yes, When i was at the lowest point in my life. My then girlfriend and now wife, came into my life and she stayed with me through it all. She went on to tell me many years later that she loved my character. We as a society pressure people to succeed and make money and fall into that trap. If only we could see each other as just a "boy" and just a "girl", life would be less complicated
I completely agree with you and if what you say is true I love that. Sadly I don’t think it’s the case so much anymore. People often seek status, both women AND men.
Yea, it saddens me to see what happens out there, but i know what's in my heart and i knew that i wanted a family. You are right, that was me in my earlier days, but i was glad that i realized that life is more than all of that stuff. For me, it was the time i had ice cream with my wife and laughing so hard i nearly choked or when she would make muffins before leaving for work but only giving it to me if she kisses me even though i'm super late or when our daughter is between us while we sleep watching over her... that to me can never be bought. No money in the world can give that. I feel sad for men and women today... i personally feel so much love can be experienced if we stopped with the hate. I wait for the day men treat women with love, respect and trust because being a guy, the most awesome thing my wife gave to me was her heart and not what is between her legs... its the best feeling ever. haha, oops i'm getting emotional sorry
Nothing to be sorry about at all. It’s very refreshing to hear some honest and valuable thoughts on here for a change. We definitely do need more of that. Until then I believe many will stay single and just continue the nagative cycle of using others unfortunately. But thank goodness for the smarter ones.
Thank you. Appreciate that. Yea, i agree. Goodluck and you seem sweet, i'm sure you be just as happy! Nice to meet you
Sad but true.
Particularly in elite type jobs.
Did you just watch the documentary on BBC2?
No wasn't aware of it

Yeah but not that common
Don't know about that, check the average IQ statistics of countries worldwide and you might come to a different conclusion. I also read an report how the average IQ in America is falling for the first time in the USA's history (very worrying development). The highest IQ people create a large majority of all the wealth.
You do realise the way IQ is measured is no longer accurate though right? There are many levels of intelligence. Many of those who won Nobel prizes weren’t exactly top scorers in everything, just one particular aspect.
It doesn't define intelligence, you're correct but is a proven indicator of economic success. Which in our capitalist system is how we build our society and keep our prosperity for the generations to come.
I’d look a little deeper into that personally, I think there could be other aspects which actually contribute to success, like class and resources etc rather than intelligence as it’s currently believed.
In my country, an upper class candidate with a 2:1 degree will actually become more successful than a working class candidate with a first degree. These stats alone highlight that it’s not actually intelligence that creates success in real terms beyond university sadly.
Annoyingly I can't share a graph which is linked to a study on "IQ as a Function of money" (you can look that up) in this comment section. IQ on average, Homeless people (80), wealthfair recipients (90), Median income (97.5), self-made millionaires (117), self-made decamillionaires (117), self-made billionaires (132), self-made decabillionaires (151). There has been countless IQ studies over an 100years which have a constant patten in results, also companies use IQ in the hiring process, as it is a proven indicator of an persons ability to succeed in the word place, it is economically an net benefit to hire someone with a higher IQ, therefore creating more wealth and prosperity. That is not to say they can't succeed in society but that a lowing IQ average is worrying for your counties futre prosperity.
That’s interesting because again what elite companies look for is a certain “polish” - ie the person with a lower degree classification but more “polish” (soft skills) will actually be preferred over the higher classification candidate with less “polish” as they call it. Again, what the studies show that you meantion may just be a general correlation and not a direct cause of success from intelligence. There are all sorts of intelligence, there are some people from poorer demographics with very high IQs but because of a lack of resources aren’t as successful. I understand what you’re saying as a general rule on a basic level, ie - a person with a degree has a higher chance of success (although not always), but you can’t deny the importance of analysing those correlations further, since they are not necessarily a true representation.
Imagine everyone has a degree... there are only so many jobs available for theirs degree candidates, and the statistics show that upper class candidates with a lower classification are 6 times more likely to be successful that a lower class person with a higher classification.
As you get further up you’ll find that it’s more about who you know and not actually what you know.
