I'm also half-Asian and I've compared the study ethics here in places like Japan and Singapore to other places like the US, and there's at least quite a difference between them (more than enough to account for discrepancies in overall math and science scores, e. g.). And it's like there's a stereotype there like Asians are so smart or whatever as though they're born this way. But if we look at the study ethics, they can be worlds apart. So I think this stereotype is more fueled by the study ethics than aptitude.
