I mean about the anti-natalist argument.
Honestly? It's idiotic. They're basicly endorsing extinction.
Dinosaurs went extinct. It is the rule of nature for species to be extinct.
The dinosaurs went extinct because of a worldwide catastrophe, not because of any choice they made.
The extinction thing is idiotic. there is no way all people in this earth will srop reproducing. Some people will keep that forever.
I'm not saying they will, just that anti-natalism has more than a few holes, and, at it's core, is flawed.
No it is not. Not bringing another sentient being to suffer is very reasonable.
Their are plenty of good reason to not have kids, but not wanting them to struggle is incredibly selfish. Your child might grow to be the one who will stop all that suffering. They could grow to cure cancer, or aids, or solve world hunger, or figure out how to taraform another planet, or figure out how to travel to Alfa Centari. Your child could grow to be truly amazing, but we'll never know if you refuse to have any.
It is not selfish at all. You protect someone from suffering. The uniiverse does not need another person to live , face losses and failures and eventually die. Considering that most people born do not have the ability to solve any major problems of the humanity as you mentioned and will live normal/boring and futile lives as the intelligence of a society , a country or the World had a tendency to mediate towards the average. Considering as well I am not an Ivy League ( or a similiar difficulty college) student , which consequently leads to the conclusion I am not a genius. Probably the woman I will marry will not be a genius and our children wil almost certainly be no geniuses. So anti-natalism , at least for me it is very viable.
Not everyone can be grate, but greatness can come from anywhere.
