For context, birthright citizenship applies to children born within five miles of a U. S. territory, or in U. S. airspace. There are additional rules for children born to U. S. citizens outside the U. S., but I am strictly focused on the first aspect.

I probably should have phrased the question more clearly. The intention was to drive discussion on the idea that all children born in a certain area are considered to be citizens regardless of their parent’s status.
