yet as a loony lefto commie myself i hate the whole thing surrounding basic free speech for that very same reason... i you can't air you opinion how can i challenge it? not all of us are quite as pc as you may imagine
From my standpoint, anyone who is genuinely interested in making people more tolerant of other people's differences has to first grow a very thick skin and be able to handle and tolerate those differences themselves. The PC crowd seems to be as intolerant, if not more, than those they want to silence.>> not all of us are quite as pc as you may imagineI'm not the type to confidently generalize about those who lean on one side of the political spectrum. When I talk "PC crowd", I'm specifically talking about people who get offended by anything that they disapprove of -- like people who have a habit of saying things like, "That's inappropriate!" :-D
I think that can include some ultra-conservative types as well. Like I don't know whether Nancy Grace leans left or right, but she does seem very "conservative" in many respects, and I'd consider her very much a part of that "PC crowd".
ok well to that end i have to agree but again point out its not just one side of the political spctrum that do it as im sure you are aware
@wankiam Cheers. I'm aware of that. :-)
i hope you dont think i came along to patronize... its just many people dont see both angles and so i merely wanted to add to the point you was making to clarify for others that might read it with a less open mind... i know its a rare thing on this site to pass comment without wanting ww3 but it wasn't my intention i assure you
@wankiam I think I tend to lean a bit right -- I seem to align with what's called a "classic liberal" in the US, like Dave Rubins kind, or maybe libertarian (but not such an extreme type like Molyneux). But for me, it's like the "PC crowd" includes conservatives who think heavy metal music is Satanic and should be censored or hold up signs protesting homosexuals but also like LBGT+ people protesting Chik-fil-a because some executive voiced a controversial opinion. I'm just in favor of tolerance in general, some practicality, thick skin, and maybe a healthy sense of humor. :-D
@wankiam No problem! :-) I'm pretty difficult to provoke unless someone starts hurling underhanded jabs and insults, and I always try to err on the side of giving the other the benefit of the doubt. :-D
yeah i fully understand and respect that. we get a lot in the uk about how pc the left are but the likes of frankie boyle get banned from playing comedy gigs in universities so i see the paradox of it all as much as you... sadly not so many other people do

yeah when people heard about the amazon fire stick being lost they didn't realize their wasn't some new tech replacement... ofcourse media has its own agenda and this story isn't hitting home here in the uk either
truth is this is right back to the steering a boat analogy and hopefully at some point both sides will see the folly in this path and we can find a balance rather than having more and more reactionary kneejerk kick backs on both sides
