What you do when you suppress the free speech, is you embolden those who believe into anti vax to believe It even more.Since their arguments are likely about evil companies and shit like that, and not science directly, when you shun them, you confirm their beliefs. This makes it more solid and more believable. “See! The evil government/corporation conspiracy is trying to shut us down so we don’t know about their evil plot!” It makes them believe it more and spread it more in areas where free speech is not easily taken down.If you ask me, the answer is for people to dig into those questions and concerns raised by anti vaxxers, and answer those questions and concerns very directly. The liberal left hates to do that. They think it’s better to shun them and try to shut them down. I don’t think that shit works. It has the opposite effect. It’s why the alt-right exists and fascist white nationalists continue to grow. Because the left is too lazy ignorant and stupid to debunk ideas they don’t agree with.

Climate change isn't a "preferred line of thinking". It is real and is touching us all. Ditto for anti vaccine movements.
. You can define what it means to deny climate change however you want. You can define in any you you choose, Ie your preference. Galileo was a victim of such ideas. “I cannot bear the weight of your challenge therefore I must silence you”
Exactly right @Izumiblu
Except we have to vaccinate EVERYONE who can literally be vaccinated without risk, otherwise herd immunity reduces to the point where a disease mutates and all those people who disagreed with you and WERE IMMUNE, SUDDENLY AREN'T IMMUNE
@Waffles731 it’s one thing to have the freedom to speak and it’s another to comply with law when you put other people at stake because you don’t. I don’t see the two as being related. You don’t want to take a vaccine, fine go die in a desert somewhere after you eat this spoonful of polio
I can't remember if polio actually kills you or is like AIDS, in that it makes sure other things kill you
Also I literally first saw this last night and polio is a BIG part of this routine.https://youtu.be/G7P4iFg048k
@Waffles731 well it paralyzes you and messes you up but I figure if you’re remotely located in the desert you’re gonna die because you can’t move so... better they die there than be sick near me n my family.
"Well, considering man made climate change is totally unproven id say it's foolish to suppress dissenting views."Apparently, you don't understand scientific evidence, which grows higher and deeper each passing day. That said, I agree that dissenting information should not be suppressed, even when it's total conjecture and bullshit... like politics is.
True, but isn’t there some scientific evidence supporting these positions? Also, the belief that vaccines are bad is an opinion, not a fact.I don’t know the answer to this question. I’m curious.
When opinion or poor quality research, that is presented by unqualified representatives of questionable knowledge or dubious character, and goes against well established theories and research is reported as fact in our media to support 'fair and balanced' or worse, both-siderism, it can quickly and easily move from being a social nuisance, to a societal hazard. Misinformation is worse than no-information. These two topics are two of many that will have far reaching impacts on society, and lobbyists (global warming) or retracted research studies (the MMR-Autism link) do not belong in the discussion as their motives are suspect or their research is flawed/has been disproven. If you decide to be a skeptic of everything and accept nothing as true or even a given, i'm sorry. 1+1 will always equals two, and 488/244 will always reduce to two, unless your in the government. As humans we have an innate requirement to make sense of things that we don't understand, or are obscured, or just beyond our reach of comprehension (spirituality?) so we can scaffold the acquired knowledge and link it to other things we have learned to make connections between topics to facilitate recall and discussion. Thats where the hazards of confirmation biases also comes into play as we will seek out information to reinforce our own view of things, especially in light of contradictory evidence. Its why people double down when confronted with opposing information of more value and stronger evidence. Its also why people, when counting cards at 21, or playing a slot machine for hours on end, will go all in, thinking they will win, they know what's right and damn everyone else, its also part of stranded cost theory. It can also be explained by greed and manipulation in other cases.
My post is too long. 2/2 Scientific research is mostly presented in the context of the given theory is the best answer we have and until someone else can come along and show a different cause, or different reason, under the same circumstances, this is what we have to go on. Add Occams Razor into the fray, and the simplest explanation, with the least number of assumptions, is often the most likely explanation for some phenoninma. Anyone with money can find some scientist somewhere who will produce a study showing that maybe the sky isn't blue and is actually turquoise, throwing doubt on the vast amount of established science saying what has been accepted as true. If this is accurate or not, is not the question, all it needs to do is sow doubt in people to be skeptical of everything. So, I really should have had a few espresso shots before this so I could make a cogent argument, but yes, per the scientific community at large, there is consensus that climate change has anthropogenic origins and will/has caused changes that may not be reversible on the earth. Additionally, the MMR study was retracted, but in the desire for people to understand what happened to their children (which is difficult) people still latch on to it since they choose to reject the subsequent studies disproving it and leaving the origins of the condition unknown. Presenting these contradictory ideas in the light of vast opposition is a disservice to all. Your first amendment rights to be ignorant should not override (I almost typed trump) societies rights to be educated and make decisions that promulgate the betterment of wellbeing of its populace,.
The problem with your statement is there is a lot of very bad research. That a lot of information that is perpetuated by many who should have a better understanding as fact When the science is no where near proven. I'm thinking about the African study of AIDS and circumcision. The study is so flawed as to be completely useless yet I've argued with doctors who cite the WHO who cite that study. I certainly believe in vaccinations and that global warming is both a man made and a serious threat, but I'm concerned about the attitude of leaving science to the scientists and that anything coming out of academia or single articles in un peer reviewed magazines as beeing spouted as truth. Until research is thoroughly veted and reviewed it is questionable at best and deceptive at worst.
Bullying me all you want behind a screen but if you met me face to face, you would be afraid. You don't respect my views but want your views respected. Hypocrite!I'm smarter than you and 97% of members here, pal! I have a deep spiritual walk that you don't. You are fleshly oriented only.
I would TOTALLY make fun of you to your face, and its not faith when what you believe has been PROVEN FALSE, ITS JUSR IDIOCY
@Waffles731 You wouldn't make fun of me to my face because I'd get my cop dad to arrest you for harassment and bullying. You would watch your words with me. You can't just treat people the way you want just to bully them. People don't always hurt you just for being different or bullying you.
You only reply to people on this site to bully them or comment negatively. I've seen them. You never praise or encourage people in replies so I can't take you seriously.
I believe liberals are dangerous should we suppress their speech?
There should be new rules to politics. If the political agenda you have is driven by greed, is not scientifically benefited to people, and is not good for the people, then you are not allowed to do politics. So that rule would be for ALL political things.
Who is going to decide what is good for people? Liberals?
UN and congres
How is it ridiculous?
Because you have the right of freedom of speech and to believe what you want.
That don't mean you can say what ever you want
It’s called freedom of speech
Let's test that, I think you should kill yourself. According to you I have the right to say that
They are just words. Say it... I don’t care. I’m not a little snowflake like you liberals are.
I'm not a hillbilly rasist fat bastard like you and I'm fine with that
And the nasty liberal shows it’s true face. You people are pathetic. I pity you. You are still so bitter about the election and you know you have no chance to take back the White House. You poor pathetic little girl.
That's the best you got? The entire world looks at trump and laugh over how pathetic he is.
Did I hurt your little feelings? The world looks at liberals and sees how insane you are. Your so delusional you think a man can be a woman.
You just golden aren't you, have fun with you life
Tell me. What do you think of Kathy Griffin holding a bloody severed head of the president? Or Madonna saying she wants to blow up the White House?
Knowing who the president is and the freedom of speech I have no problems with it, neither should you ;)
You liberals hate freedom of speech
I'm a democrat actually
That’s a liberal
Another words you don’t want to work and you want everything for free
We pay 36-50% taxes here. We work 8 hours a day 5 days a week. We get paid vecations. We get paid parental leave for up to 45 weeks. We have free medical care, free education. We are a welfare state. The minemum pay here is 21$ pr hour. If USA followed our welfare system your yearly state budget would be 2.8 times more then it currently is. So sosial democracy works. All the Scandinavian countries are on the top 5 list of the happiest, best educated and richest countries in the world. Let's take Norway alone with its 5 million people have more money then all of the 300 million Americans. So yeah it works.
You aren’t even American. Your opinion means nothing. You shouldn’t be talking about what you know nothing about
I know that people in the US will rather take a taxi to the hospital instead of a ambulance because you have to pay for it. I know of you don't have insurance then an accident that is not even your fault might bankrupt you. I know that people work their ass off with little to show for it in the end. I know that US have more poor people on the streets then the poorest countries in Europe. I know that people who can read is on the rise for the first time in 60 years because people can't afford education. I know that the US is slowly turning it self into a third world country because the system they have don't work. I know there are more domestic Terror attach in the US then the rest of the world combined. I know that US have been more years in war then it have not been in war sins it's independence. I know the US invest more money in their military then the rest of the worlds military combined. I know that the US have more over weight people pr capita then any other country in the world. So yeah good luck
You know nothing. Your just an idiot who wants to bash America
Is anything I just told you a lie?
Yes it is. You don’t know you’re not American
What part of it is a lie then?
All of it because you don’t live in America. You know nothing.
How is me not living in America mean all I say is a lie?
Dude because you don’t know. You’re not in this country.
So healthcare and education is free in the US?
Actually we have medicade and welfare. Also people in certain income levels can get grants for free college. So you idiot liberal you don’t know
So that means all the low income families have to pay for everything, they dont get an education because it costs to much, and they can't afford to be sick or hurt because they have to pay for everything? Do you know how many that is a low income family in US?
You just assume that it’s low incomes that pay for everything? You’re just an idiot aren’t you. It’s low incomes that get the benefits.
1 out of 5 don't have health insurance in US. 96.3 million Americans are considered poor. 32 million Americans don't know how to read. I know this and I am not an American, does this mean I actually know more then you?
Dude you don’t know. This is the last time I’m going to tell you. You’re an idiot liberal that knows nothing. Muting
If you Google it all, you will find government papir from state officials that will on black and white say the same things I have.
