In my activist regime change literature, specifically Gene Sharp, the father of nonviolent regime change states that oppression must be imposed by a regime to bring members of society into pacification and obedience with the regime.
In my romantic life I would discriminate based on ethnicity, religion and looks too.

Because they feel that they dont deserve to live, but are too scared to commit suicide.
Again, they're responsible for their own behavior and their own lives. So they can get mental health so they can feel they deserve to live.
They won't get mental help because they feel they dont deserve it. Its a vicious cycle, very simple principle to understand.
Then they're stuck in their crappy lives by their own doing. So they're "oppressing" themselves. Society isn't doing it to them.
