he was a good man with good intentions. such a shame yeltsin took over and sold off the family silver and let olligarchs take over... maybe its all in the name boris lol
although in some eastern european states people can be quite nostalgic. or as one old romanian put it, the only difference today is you can stand in line waiting for bread still but you can now complain about the queue
@wankiam Heh. Another thing that I identify with the USSR is the Moscov Peace Festival that brought Heavy Metal through the Iron Curtain and gave Gorky Park a chance to shine on stage to millions watching around the world. Even the Soviet soldiers tasked with policing the event stopped policing the event and rocked along with everyone else.
ah yes i forgot about that and the fact putin is a biker too lol
@wankiam Hahah, yep a biker. Does he ride his bike shirtless like on his horses?
i have only seen him in leathers
@wankiam Hm Leather. He's definitely a Rob Halford fan.
maybe but you know there's a lot of homegrown metal in russia and eastern Europe too
@wankiam Yup, Gorky Park were one of the first and their contribution to Russian metal paved the way for future rockers. I bought Gorky Park's debut album on vinyl the day it came out in the west. I kept checking the record store to see if it had been released yet. I still have that album.
cool though i was never a rocker myself
I have a very limited vocab..
