I'm proud of you😇
You are a rare breed. Especially in San Francisco.
@JohnnySigma85 I’m not in San Fran
@JohnnySigma85 nbd. I just don’t wanna be mistaken for being dumb enough to vote for those moronic city council members
I always say 'guns don't kill people', but I like this story way better.

Yes, they do classes on gun safety as well.
That’s good. If you’re gonna have private gun ownership, at least promote safe usage.
"I do not like private gun ownership as an idea if it would be done here in the Netherlands"Perhaps you would have had a different opinion in 1940.
Oh sure. However, Most people just adapted to the new situation and never resisted in that time. I doubt a significant part of the nation would resist. Also, there was violence against the Germans. But every time that happened it got dozens of people just executed
Also, probability of tyranny rising is pretty negligible.
"it got dozens of people just executed"If more people had guns, they wouldn't have easily invaded in the first place.
Well, no. The Germans just bombed Rotterdam into obliteration within a couple days of invasion and threatened to do the same to cities like Amsterdam if the government and people did not admit defeat immediately.Safe to say that the government would give up pretty quickly if most major cities were wiped out. Also, given that people are risk averse, how many people would actually fight against invading forces? I’d say very few. Netherlands also has a very, very low rate of people saying that they would fight for the country
They aren't military grade, that's an intentionally false term that people use to scare people. Plus, should the government become tyrannical, people need to be able to deter said government and keep them in check by being able to resist them.
But no government is gonna want to allow its citizens to rise up in heavily armed revolt. Even George Washington quite brutally suppressed the Whiskey Rebellion. And all they wanted was tax-free whiskey.
But he failed, and read the second amendment as you clearly haven't done that.
He did not fail!!! That rebellion was shattered.I have read the Second Amendment. It's talking about a "militia" to defend against foreign invaders. Backup troops to help out the regular army. Not to rise up against the same people who wrote the Second Amendment.
"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." You're stating your intentions very clear, you don't want people to be able to protect themselves from a tyrannical government
"Security of a free state": "security" implies a foreign threatWe have never had a tyrannical government in the United States in living memory. Or arguably ever.
That's because the citizens have had a means of deterring the government from becoming tyrannical
Hmmmm. Maybe...But do you really want your neighbor down the street packing a submachine gun?
Another intentionally false term used to scare people, much like "assault rifle" and "automatic weapons". Do you even know what a submachine gun is without cheating? And even if they could get it, I'd be cool with it.
A gun that shoots a lot of bullets at onceWhat if your neighbor decides he doesn't like your son "hanging out" with his little baby girl? So he decides to vaporize him with one or more of his conveniently available stockpile of automatic weapons.People are not rational creatures. You can't trust them with weapons like that.
I knew it, you don't know anything about guns. Go do your research and then come back
It doesn't matter exactly what kind of gun it is. It's big and shoots a lot of bullets and kills people in one burst. That's enough to make me not want Billy Bob Jones down the street keeping it under his bed.
"It doesn't matter what gun it is" you're hilarious
Typical. A hammer, if used to attack someone, can be labeled an assault weapon. Your ignorance is astounding.
The whole being up to and on par with military grade is kind of of the point of the clause.Honestly though I think it's intended for being a legitimate irregular militia force. Should have to be part of a registered state militia reserve and train regularly, and have a clean record or pardon to have the right to heavy weapons.
@DanOh2018 that totally makes sense
@JohnnySigma85 We cannot equate hammers and guns. I am a gun owner and carrier but I don't see a need for certain kinds of guns. There is nuance in the world. It's not all black and white.
I own guns too but I don't use them to go out and assault people with. A gun is just a tool. I think we need to stop blaming the guns for the violence and start holding the real assault weapon accountable; humans.
@JohnnySigma85 I agree. But everyone is not like you and me in regards to how we are safe with guns. I would fight hard to keep the guns I own but people have proven they are responsible enough for certain types of guns.
And people like Robert Francis O'Rourke want to take our guns away and expect mass shooters to obey the law willingly.
@JohnnySigma85 I think Beto wants to take away certain kinds of guns. Certainly, not all guns by any means. Once again, why can't we discuss this with some subtlety or nuance?
First off, I was born and raised in the Lower Valley part of El Paso Texas. Graduated in 2003 at Riverside High School. I refuse to call that person by a name that his white father have him. He's no Hispanic. Just because he was born there doesn't mean that he's from there.
Secondly, he is a felon who cannot own a firearm. So if he can't own one, he's going to take them.
@JohnnySigma85 I will call anyone by any name they ask me to call them. I would even call you Johnny Sigma?
It's an alias that I use but I'm not using it to manipulate people for political gain.
No one can own a military grade assault rifle. Those would be fully automatic meaning that all you have to do is hold the trigger down and empty the magazine. In case you liberals need a fact check they have been banned since president reagan was in office.
@broncobryan "No one can own a military grade assault rifle"You are incorrect. There are tens of thousands of them privately owned. You merely can't buy one made after 1986 unless you are part of the government or have a special dealer or manufacturer license.
"do you really want your neighbor down the street packing a submachine gun"Maybe one does. I have two federally licensed firearms dealers on my street. I would be glad if they did have a submachine gun."available stockpile of automatic weapons"A legally owned automatic weapon has not been used in a crime in the US in over 60 years. And that owner was a police officer. "People are not rational creatures. You can't trust them with weapons like that"Then we certainly cannot trust people to vote rationally and we cannot trust legislators to make rational laws."It doesn't matter exactly what kind of gun it is"It matters if you are trying to address murders. Almost half of murders are using means other than guns. Of guns used, 98% are handguns. More people are murdered with fists and feet than with rifles of all types.
@tara987 "I don't see a need for certain kinds of guns"That is your choice in how you defend yourself. I should have the choice on how to defend myself, and that includes a 9mm, an AR-15 and an M1A with a high powered scope. Each is better for some situations than others. I have on my list to get an M1919 .30 caliber machine gun, probably within the next 18 months. Here is a principle. If you don't decide what other people should or should not have, then other people should not be able to decide what you should or should not have.
They help protect our second amendment rights from people who want to take them away
why is that important to you?
It's part of our constitution and we should have the freedom to own them, also, should the government become tyrannical, we need to be able to protect ourselves from them or they'll oppress their people. And if someone breaks into my house, I need to get rid of them, people will say "fight fair" those people are stupid to think criminals will ever fight fair, even then, I don't give a damn.
great thank you, i feel i understand better
@MrHopper... No, you don't understand better, if you're listening to him. If you want to actually learn about them, then simply read the Wikipedia page about them and their history.
@Thatsamazing thanks for your input but in my experience to learn is to talk to the people involved on the "shop floor" so to speak rather than the message given
Oh please! Everyone buys influence in politics!!
Everyone does and its unethical, but the NRA's money comes from much deeper pockets
@roaring20sman I don't think she's stupid. I understand that she is concerned with who gets shat sorts of guns in the U. S. I just haven't heard anyone who can balance our 2nd Amendment rights with some control over guns. People are nervous about it and that's understandable. And I am a gun owner and carrier. I wouldn't join the NRA because I think they are corrupt in how they handle the money given to them. But we do need someone to stand up to those who want to take away our rights.
@roaring20sman True assault rifles are already banned, and "common sense" gun reform doesn't work because the people advocating for it have no sense.
would you classify an AR 15 as an assault rifle?
No, it has to have select fire capabilities to be an assault rifle, AR-15 rifles are semi automatic only😒
How is the NRA killing you and your children?
The NRA has millions of members. How many of those NRA members murdered someone today? The NRA is the largest anti-crime organization in the world.
NRA teaches people the proper way to use a gun legally and safely through careful instruction by people that actually know everything about the kind of gun they are teaching.AR stands for Armalite, which is the name of the company that makes the rifle.
Armalite is the name of the company that first developed the ar15, stands for armalite rifle 15th variant. Now many manufacturers make the ar15 and different parts for the ar15.
Why? Is it because they have so many police officers and military service men and women as members? Is it because they vocally support the US Constitution? Is it because they are the largest anti-criminal organization in the world? Is it because they are the largest gun safety organization in the world? Why do you hate them?
@WalterRadio they're known racist. They wants thinhs that aren't needed on guns. So many reasons. Not just 1 thing. I could think of a shit ton of reasons I hate them and think they're trash
Lmao good to know I insulted 6 losers
Racist? You must have them confused with Democrats that want to ban guns for everyone except their own elites. The NRA funded the legal team for Mr. McDonald when he went up against the City of Chicago. Mr. McDonald is black.James Earl Jones is a member of the NRA. Jones is black.Whoopi Goldberg was, and may still be a member of the NRA. Goldberg is black.Did you know that many gun control laws that we have today were rooted in the desire for Democrats to prevent black people from having guns? This is true for the outright prohibition of guns that the City of Chicago and Washington DC had for many years, it is true for the Gun Control Act of 1968. it is true for the gun control laws of New York City. It is true for most of the gun control laws that used to be, but are now repealed in the South. The NRA helped arm the black Deacons for Defense and Justice against Democrats in the KKK.www.americas1stfreedom.org/.../
Had we not had guns in 1776 we would still be a British colony.
@Daniela1982 I don't think any of us want that
