You let a little girl trigger you?
@OddBeMe I'm more 'triggered' by all of the twits who take her seriously. She's just a kid. They're old enough to know better.
You’re old enough to not flake out by a teenager.
@OddBeMe I just said it's the people who hang on every word this kid utters, not her, who irritate me?
No one brings up this kid except people who flake out about her.
@OddBeMe I didn't bring her up. I saw the question, answered it, and moved swiftly on. Read into it whatever you want, but my initial two word answer pretty much demonstrates how emotionally invested I am in this topic.
That is one of the most unjustified biased statements I’ve read in months. What I have actually noticed is how left wing bigots like you have no problem literally projecting your innermost thoughts on anyone around you, almost as if you can’t help but to out yourselves, it’s truly entertaining...😅🤣😂🤷🏻♂️
Billionaires should stop using a child as their mouthpiece. And we should shouldn’t have elected him president.
Like our special needs president?
How many climate experts are there now?
@OddBeMe tens of thousands
How many believe in climate change? Hint: all of them.
@OddBeMe not sure what's your point, I'm in favour of more climate action
Then why ask for a balanced thesis? The answer is it’s happening. Greta is just saying “get off you asses.”
@OddBeMe I'm saying one teenager who happens to capture a public sentiment cannot possibly speak accurately and comprehensively on behalf of 20,000+ climate researchers, and 100,000s+ more activists. I think its self defeating in long term to associate an entire movement with one individual. Because those who wish to stymy and prevent climate action need only discredit the individual in order to discredit the movement. Notice how rightwing pundits don't critique the science; they can't. But they CAN attack individual people, especially those who are seen as flagbearers. They're trying to whip the masses into a frenzy by attacking thunbergs character and motives. And its kinda working. I don't condone any of this. But its whats happening. Its harder for them to attack the movement if the movement has many flagbearers instead of just one.
Did she say anything that wasn’t true?
@OddBeMe its not about what's true. Its about what's perceived as true. Dont underestimate the fickleness of public opinion. It can turn on its idols on a whim.
Greta has seemed to put climate change back in the spotlight. Which a thousand climate scientists couldn’t do.
@OddBeMe I can agree with that. But that spotlight could be her undoing if we place too much focus on her as an individual. Personally I think her message is valid and commendable and necessary. But now we need to use the attention she brought to climate action to share the spotlight with other voices whom may not otherwise have gotten a platform. Why attack the enemy from only one position if we can attack from multiple directions all at once?
@SomeGuyCalledTom public opinion at the time was that the Titanic was unsinkable.
@Dchrls78104 That's right, so we need to avoid a climate version of the Titanic. And that requires multiple voices aimed towards the same goal. Which won't happen if we get complacent thinking "Thunberg will fix it!"
@SomeGuyCalledTom the Titanic might have been saved if more people, especially the ones at the helm, had heeded the warnings about the iceberg that lay in her path.
@Dchrls78104 thats not my contention
Autism isn’t a disability necessarily. It’s produced some pretty important shit through the years.
