Do you realize how much in carbon emissions has been saved by plastic, as opposed to glass, containers? Think about how much a glass bottle weighs, compared to plastic, and imagine the lower gas efficiency of all those trucks delivering all those soda bottles due to extra weight.
Do they re-use, re-cycle, or dump soda bottles where you are? Here, there's a deposit on most bottles; the glass and some of the plastic ones are re-used, the rest are recycled (although PET bottles, I think it is, can only be made into something else, not bottles).
@goaded Unfortunately the recycling centers that give refunds on deposits have been closing en masse here in California. I suspect the politicians don't care, as the deposit will then act as a tax, without the political cost of raising a tax.
That sounds like an, uh, interesting arrangement. Here, the drinks shops have to pay back deposits on returned bottles, and send them back (I presume) on the lorries that deliver the new drinks.
@goaded There were a lot of recycling centers around, but they have been closing and no one seems to care.
Filtering (called lane-splitting here) is legal here.
In the UK, too, but not in Germany.
Let me guess: A very but not (yet) most populous country...
More than a lucky guess.
