Do you think talking about someone behind their backs and not to their faces falls under the definition of coward?

If you google the definition of coward it tells you
"a person who is contemptibly lacking in the courage to do or endure dangerous or unpleasant things."

A person who speaks about a person behind their backs and not to their face is obviously lacking courage to say it to their face.
