You're thinking of incels my dude. Incels are the ones that have the mistaken idea that their problems would go away if they lived in the past. Also, MRA's dont look at the past with nostalgia glasses. In fact, many of their talking points go against conservatism and they are fairly liberal. Most of them are speaking out against the duluth model (which discriminates against men), paternity fraud, divorce/alimony, etc stuff like that.
Mens rights have always been there. Pretty much all legislation was written by some old dude. What new rights do MRAs wish to add?
What rights do they wish to add? They want to address things like court bias, paternity fraud, getting rid of the duluth model etc.
Why not just lump all these issues under one roof with women's equality activists to avoid appearing like a counter movement against feminism? Because framing it Mens rights vs feminism makes it seem like I'm supposed to like one over the other.
"Why not just lump all these issues under one roof with women's equality activists to avoid appearing like a counter movement against feminism?"Because feminist don't want the same things and don't want to be under the same label. And the things feminists do want are very much worthy of opposition, so being a "counter movement" in addition to the other issues they campaign on makes perfect sense.
I dont agree but I'm gonna leave it at that, it's clear I need to do more research on this issue.
This conversation went a lot different than I expected it would. Honestly, I give props to you for being civil and open minded about this sort of thing OP.
Always I'm a dork and I actually like going on a deep dive for information so I like finding things I dont have the answers to.
Do you even know anything about the MRAs position?
@AllThatSweetJazz Yes, I know quite a lot about MRAs. Do you have a specific question here?
Yes, how can you call them two sides of a coin when they're fundamentally different in their philosophy?
@AllThatSweetJazz They re not fundamentally different in their philosophy though. They think they are, but they're not. They are both ostensibly for "gender justice", but both are focused on one gender (despite what they say), both are biased in their views (despite what they say) and both are driven by sexism (despite what they say). And just as importantly, both are contributing significantly to the ever-worsening division between the sexes today. But neither feminists nor MRAs seem capable of recognizing in themselves what I described above, which is a dangerous condition with a lot of implications, especially in the case of feminists, who actually have a lot of social and political power and use that to do a lot of harm. MRAs simply do not have any of that sort of power (yet). But they do throw a lot of gasoline on the flame that is feminist hatred for men, and nothing good comes from that.
Feminists oppose gender equality for men. MRAs do not oppose women's rights, and in fact many MRAs have also fought for women's rights (the movement was started by feminists). The fact that you didn't know such a basic fact about the movements means that no, you do not know anything about MRAs and should stop pretending that you do.
whats telling from the downvotes is men are their own worst enemy in this... clearly happy to go into war rather than to make love... hope y'all have a happy incel life together
