I knew a very intelligent, or should I say 'scholastic', dux in high school who was a dedicated Leftist. He criticized me, as a Romanian, for the Romanian treatment of the Hungarians. He criticized China fro the treatment of the Tibetans, Serbia for the treatment of the Croatians, and Israel for the treatment of the Palestinians. I realized that he basically just went with the whoever was the underdog. Who ever could be said to be the 'victim'. Had the Treaty of Versailles granted Transylvania to Hungary, he would have sided with the Romanians and accused the Hungarians of oppressing the Romanians. He did very well in Sociology at University. Scoring consistently high scores by applying his 'underdog' thesis and explaining the lack of power and lack of resources various 'underdogs' had. But after joining the Liberate Palestine movement at the University he went to, he joined a movement to ban Israelis from being near the university. He wanted to essentially boycott jews because of the way they victimized people in the middle east.To his utter shock and surprise, much of the 'boycott jews' movement was anti Semitic. Whaaaaaa? He could not comprehend this. It made no sense to him that there could be a situtation where the opressor was the victim and the victim the oprressor all at the same time. How could his movement that was sticking up for the oppressed support oppression. This is not how his professors told him the world worked. He switched gears and began standing up for prisoners in solitary confinement.
The only reason these 2 groups exist is to divide us. I mean at Christmas dinner I watch my family fight over Trump it was so disturbing just so brainwashed to argue over things that don't even matter.
This is exactly what I was going to say.
It's a deep shame people don't see the beauty nor the enlightenment of a balance philosophy.
What are you? Libertarians are road kill , they get hit by cars in the left and then by cars in the right lane.
@888theGreat: No, I'm smart enough to be a centrist and not arrogant enough to think one sided philosophy has all the right answers.
If I had to label myself I’m more of a liberal but I have some things where I have more of a conservative view on. I like to think having a mix is probably best.
I find people that try to play both sides don't really stand for anything at all and are very inconsistent.
I wouldn’t think of it as playing both sides. More so being open to both arguments.
@888theGreat: You're wrong. You take positive sides from all sides that have intelligent and wisdom of how to do things.

The problem to me with the extreme left is that they have a message which can, on the surface, sound quite moral and compassionate even if it creates social conflict and turmoil left and right. Those are the most dangerous ideologies as I see it is when they appeal on the basis of compassion but, in the end, just create a whole lot of conflict and misery.
Lots on the right are self righteous people which turns me off. No one here is pure as God. Those are on the right are greedy too and come off as having hate in their hearts and not caring about others. Don't care about the environment, social justice, reject scientists warnings about global warming and everything they don't agree with is a hoax. And the people on the left is a whole other can of worms.
Definitely so, but I see more power in the language of, say, the victimhood mentality of the intersectional feminist against the "oppressive patriarchy", or the communist victimhood narrative of the proletariat against the bourgeoise... especially in today's age, I think these types of ideologies are more capable of swaying and radicalizing young people.
But if we're just talking "annoying", I'm definitely more annoyed by the likes of the male feminist than a Hick right-winger nationalist and patriot who has a gun rack. The wolf in sheep's clothing is far more irritating to me than just a wolf.
Like me I guess?
@888theGreat Well I have no idea how you act or what you believe so I couldn't say.
Sure they don't... they just perfer to drop bombs on their heads while they sleep.
Buddy, liberals have had PLENTY of bombs dropped on kids.
My point is there's no difference between the two when it comes to killing kids.
