let me to follow up and allow me downgrade politicians to 0. We have an infectious disease institute doing a pretty good job so far and they came up with a plan to manage and control the situation from now on, how to put things back on track, how to slowly re-open in a safe way. But this plan was layered over a few months period until the summer, with accent on people above 40 to keep respecting certain rules when going out will be eventually allowed and ones over 60 avoiding exposure for as much as possible and rather keep stay inside. The Health Minister - a doctor- said "yes, good plan, I fully support it, will forward to prime-minister and discuss".The Health Minister a few days later after discussing with the Government: "no, I never said that about the plan, I'm not supporting it"President took to the stage today and said "No, the institute has no say in this and they should mind their business". Why? Well, he wants to re-open by end of May because that's when the local elections were supposed to be held and he does not want to delay them because his liberal party is going to shit already, dropping percentages. He also wants to attract the above mentioned age groups towards his party, to make it look like he is siding with them against the "oppressors" trying to keep people inside and went as far as naming the plan "totalitarian and unacceptable".

doesn't it seem like only guys in their 50s understand this simple fact.
@I-am-a-nobody Absolutely and the rest will come to this understanding once it crashes and they're going hungry.
If it does end up less than the flu (you're at 40,131 deaths and still getting 2k deaths a day, so that seems unlikely), that's only because of the shutdown.
@goaded And those deaths, at least the majority of them, are being falsified. A elder lady in her 80's and terminal fell and died from her fall. Her death was recorded as cov19. A child is accidentally poisoned to death. Child's death was recorded as cov19. Those are just two examples where the families called them out on it. And not to forget, cov19 is evidently curing things like heart attacks and strokes too, because they're all being recorded as dying of cov19. Funny how those numbers work.
From two anecdotes, you can tell that 20,000 reported deaths are fake? Here's one anecdote about 12 deaths in one day that weren't counted: www.BBC.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-52196815
@ThisAndThatI can't buy that the death rate (among infected) in NYC is really over 10% when the rest of the state is under 4%. You're right COVID must be "curing" strokes and heart attacks all through NYC. I'd like to see a comparison of heart attack deaths in NYC right now vs. the norm.
@goaded Pull NYC out of the equation and you're at about 23,000 (very flu-like).Questioning NYC numbers in light of death rate over 10% vs. < 4% through the rest of the state.
@I-am-a-nobody Did you not notice the part about many of the dead never having been tested?Nearly half the state live in the city, the number of tests is about 4% of the population, and not done at random, but only on sick people. 20 thousand deaths is only 0.25% of the population of NYC (0.125% of the state), it's far more likely that the number of infected is higher than reported than the number of dead is.Do you have anything to suggest that significantly fewer people are reported dying of those other problems? Of course, if you're likely to die of a heart attack, you're more likely to die of COVID-19, but it's the thing that finally kills you that counts - try arguing in court that shooting somone who's in palliative care for cancer doesn't count!
@goadedI don't think 10% are actually dying, but the relative number is almost three times as high. The truth is we'll never know exactly how many really died of COVID.by the way, NYC share of US deaths is actually increasing... Now at over 35%.The number of deaths in NYC is more that 12 times the whole state of CA!It's just getting hard to believe.Likewise, I don't think China has < 5000 deaths.
You're most likely following the rules, guidelines, and precautions held in place then congratulations.
Yes! Your essential workers are doing awesome.
How many more states can say they are on the downswing of the caronavirus curve?
Especially considering NY is heavily populated.
Do you mean NYC or the state in a whole?
The whole state my guy.
Yes it is
I'm in Western New York state near Rochester.
Still not great, though. Johnson didn't take it seriously enough, early enough.
@goaded hindsight is great. Let's be honest no one took it serious. It was a problem thousands of miles away...
Italy isn't that far away. Nor is Germany. But you're right, hindsight is 20-20. Maybe next time, there will be a bigger stockpile of equipment, maybe even a buying new and selling slightly older equipment if it will be used quickly...
@goaded I don't think anyone could plan for something like this. Except for the US the countries around the world have coped well. Sadly I think China are going to have to face a reconning. At the moment it's 2.5million dead and the cost into hundreds of billions of dollars
The US literally had a plan for this, though. The previous two presidents each had to deal with outbreaks and worked out what they could have done better. It's called the "Playbook for Early Response to High-Consequence Emerging Infectious Disease Threats and Biological Incidents".
And, at the moment it's 2.5million cases, 169,000 deaths. I'm not convinced the seriousness of it would have been made clear had it started in the UK, USA, or Mexico, either, though.
@goaded it's not where it started , it's affecting the world...
Are you in California?
Hey man I don't know if you remember me but it's hypno-trip. weird to see you're still on this site continuously after so many years haha. I moved to San Francisco myself last year. I like it here so far
@theChineseWASP Ohh heyy, yeah not too long ago I decided to log on and off. I'm definitely not as active as before though. What brings you to SF?
I moved here for my masters degree and also cause I got tired of Seattle. I'm ashamed to be back on this site but Covid isolation made me kind of desperate haha. Anyways good to see you again is all hope things have turned for the better in the past five years...
@theChineseWASP Thanks, you too and stay safe.
You're a week or two behind, Sweden is now doing really badly; 152 deaths per million population, even worse than the US's 121.
My apologies, I assumed you were an ignorant American, holding Sweden up as an example. Stay safe!
Haha, all good. I am just surprised that I am still alive... like everyone are on the streets, just shopping... they DON'T CARE... just minority has masks
