NOAM CHOMSKY SUGGESTS TOBACCO DOES BETTER CONNECT TO A CAPITALIST SCHEME OF MULTIPLE ENTRIES, DIFFERENT FROM MARIJUANA, WHICH IS A BETTER BUSINESS IF STAY ILLEGAL

From time to time it is worth reflecting on how contradictory it is that marijuana remains illegal in most parts of the world and that other stronger drugs such as tobacco are legal. In this eagerness, it is worth listening to this video where the political scientist Noam Chomsky explains his theory of why marijuana is illegal. Chomsky conjectures that it is simply a business decision, typical of hypercapitalism. Without subscribing to the fact that it is necessarily a conspiracy against the people, Chomsky points out that "the design of the US anti-drug policy makes people stop using drugs like marijuana and use stronger drugs like cocaine." This as a result of marijuana being punished as much as cocaine but unlike synthetic drugs it is more stinky and takes up more space, making it easier to carry and consume cocaine. In turn we have the case of tobacco, a product that has historically been cultivated oligopolistically by some of the most powerful companies on the planet and that is "vastly more harmful than marijuana"; it is actually "the second deadliest substance, after sugar," says Chomsky. Despite this, marijuana is legal and tobacco is illegal.
