What are some actually sensible arguments for socialism or a socialistic system?

Here are my thoughts on it:

Capitalism by definition works if it is not interfered with, socialism is what occurs when you generalise all humans and try to figure out what all of them want, they are two different philosophies/approaches to these (at least in my perspective). The potential for failiure in socialistic system is still better/bigger than in capitalistic systems (even if you like that philosophy better), another point to note is that a socialistic type system can still exist in a capitalistic (purely capitalistic system) while the same is not true otherwise.

What you are essentially betting on is the intelligence of few human over the intelligence of all humans, are there any actually smart/sensible/rational arguments for socialism? Why would someone choose or want to implement a socialistic system if they intend the best for humanity and the humans as a whole
