The media report. They don't make shit up. This virus is more contagious than the ordinary flu, which has annual vaccines. It is also far more deadly. The reason why the United States can't get a handle on this virus, unlike other countries, is because people like you think it's an ordinary flu and facts don't matter.
@coffeewithcream no, the media is not more contagious than the ordinary flu. the WHO themselves have already admitted, that the infection numbers are blown way out of proportion by the extreme amount of tests that have been made.vaccines for the flu make no sense. cause the flu is qickly evolving so once we have a vaccine, the flu already evolved not to be vulnerable to the vaccine and we already have a backround immunity that defeats the purpose of a vaccine.the reason why people think it is "not an ordinary flu" is solely because the WHO and the media. the scientific community opposes those notions. you should look up what Dr. John Ioannidis has to say on the topic.it's people like him who know how that works. not morons that watch faux news.
the disease is not more contagious than the ordinary flu*... and actually it's way less deadly.
how to avoid it specially in winter specially kids if going out for school if there is
@maria2716 by staying home and wearing a face mask when you feel sick. that is common sense. if everyone does that, we don't have a problem.
The virus can be spread through droplets coming from the nose and mouth. If you have a mask on, your droplets can’t make contact with anyone and vice versa, helping to stop the spread. Of course good hand washing and social distancing are other ways to help out as well.

8,000 new cases in Texas alone, within the last 24 hours. I hope the "protesting" was worth it. Where was the 8,000 new cases about 3 weeks ago?
Where I live it’s not protestors, it’s tourists and vacationers.
How exactly do you define a wave and when one has ended? The virus has been going around for 11 months, how long do these waves last?
Actually à lot of the people, at least where I live, who don't want to wear mask are the older folks
@Sparda20xx Maybe, and I don't know where you are, but the end result is that soooo many seem to think it has 'gone away'!! Hence, the increased infections in FLORIDA, TEXAS and CALIFORNIA.
That's correct. The 1918 H1N1 flu, which was more deadly and understanding of virus was poor at best, only lasted a year. Hell at that time we didn't even know the flu was a virus We thought the causative agent of the flu was H. Influenzae
Keep an eye open for that ADE...
@Sparda20xx COOL, you know some of the "Science" and "Biology" like me then? So few understand that!
@JackSmy always great to meet a fellow scientist. I am a molecular virologist. What about you my dude.
@Sparda20xx Biology, Cell and Molecular Biology, and Chemistry. Worked for a Biotech company making custom media, and custom plasmids for research.
Molecular Biology is so amazing. It what's made me major in Molecular Virology. For some enveloped viruses, high humidity can lead to viral instability, such as CoV viruses, SAF, IRV, etc. For other enveloped viruses, low humidity leads to instability, and for pigeon pox virus, hundity has no effect. Luckily because coronavirus encodes nsp14 we're better off
For the plasmids you made where they sense, anti sense etc?
@Sparda20xx Late 1990's, dude, and we were in the 'cave-painting' age of plasmids and using primers and 'praying' one would work!! OMG, I ran one, using blunt-end primers, almost 100 times, and got one, that actually worked, and inserted the gene the researcher wanted!! We sequenced it, and back then, it was AMAZING to get reliable 700 bases in a gel!! LOL!! The "good old days"!
@JackSmy you did sequencing in the 90's. Dude you have my respect. I can't imagine how hard that was.
@Sparda20xx Being among the "Grandfathers", laying the foundational SCIENCE, so others can make the advances to make it what you know today!!At one time, I was working on a better gel, with Acrylamide, yeah, a neurotoxin, and trying to get better, longer and accurate reads! We were experimenting with different cross-linkers, that make the gel, and give better resolution.
@JackSmy Oh you made your own SDS PAGE. Yea I've done that before. Making the stacking gel and resolving gel is a pain in the ass. Not to mention the addition of TEMED is horrible. Even in fumé hood, it smells horrible. Thank God you can just buy pré cast gels from BioRad now.If it makes you feel any better, I worked with guinea pigs who were exposed to Sarin and VX.
@Sparda20xx I've tried to keep up with the science, but I am now in another industry, but still remember, and know how the FUNDAMENTALS work!! LOL!! I missed the CRISPR thing, and that would have been so amazing for what I was wanting to do, when in college!!
@JackSmy you are one of the pioneers of science and I thank you. CRISPR is great but my lab is trying to modify it. What industry are you in now, and would you ever go back to research?
@Sparda20xx Thanks for the accolades, but I was a MINION, in a little company, and we didn't even publish anything we did, except through other researchers, using our services, and maybe never even mentioning us, except in a footnote!! :)Long story, and I ended up in the Food Industry, Government Regulation, and Labeling!! I can maybe be, literally saving lives, ensuring that all the allergens are declared, on our company's labels!I wish I could have done more, in Biotech, on the course I was on, in college!!Ah, another life, another time, and so many tell me I am CRUCIAL, and I am SAVING LIVES, doing what I do, now! LOL, to myself!!
@JackSmy, there are no Minion in science. Whether you published or not, you contributed greatly to the field. Trust me you're saving lives with your work. If it wasn't for you, people's Mass cells would go crazy.
@Sparda20xx Thank you for caring, and saying, but I had a GREATER plan, than labeling and Government regulations, in mind, when I was in college!! LOL!!
The second and third waves of the virus are predicted by experts in virology. There was a second and third wave with the Spanish Flu, the second wave being more deadly than the first. The second wave is thought to return to the United States after a first wave will result in third world countries will fewer control options- like many in Africa. Once first world countries open up again and pandemic restrictions relax, a second wave is considered to be an introduced re-infection.
Emphasis on “when restrictions relax”, yeah exactly it’s not some some fixed observable coming danger, it’s about individuals getting infected and spreading it, it’s about what people choose to do given the understanding. I just hate people talking about it like it’s some meteor from outer space that just *happens* to be on its way and nothing can be done.
Technically no. The first wave never ended. This would be more of a resurgence. But that's just me being overly technically. I get your point and I agree
Deaths are tabulated. Country by country, province by province.
What is there to take serious? Outbreak happened in August, we didn't do anything about it until March. Then in May suddenly it was okay to completely disregard everything we were doing, but only if it was for a certain political cause, now just as suddenly we have to go back to square one even though the original plan worked and this surge we're experiencing was expected and part of the plan for the beginning. There is nothing to take serious at this point. All the evidence we have shows that the virus is nothing to be concerned about so long as the elderly are isolated from it.
@gotc147 You did hear that 8,000 new cases came up in the last 24 hours, right? I doubt all 8,000 are elderly. So, if the majority of the sick are between 20 and 32 years of age, then why would they claim to be sick when their not?... Or is there a chance that Covid is not "Just for old people"?
Before you open your mouth... that 8,000 new cases were in Texas alone... within 24 hours. (June 29, 2020)
@gotc147 It's not a matter of whether or not it was for a political cause, it was whether or not the activities were propagating the spread of the virus.www.economist.com/.../black-lives-matter-protests-did-not-cause-an-uptick-in-covid-19-caseswww.nytimes.com/.../coronavirus-united-states.htmlThe response of the left to the protests didn't show that the lock-downs were a political ploy, the response of the right coupled with the patterns of COVID-19 spread only showed that the right is contriving hypocrisy.
@Fatherhere901 A surge was expected and part of the plan, as I said. Those in their 20s and 30s are the ones making up most of the new cases and they almost all have mild or very mild symptoms. Hospitalizations average 3-5 days which is much lower than over the spring. AND we're doing a lot more testing now.Throwing out a big number and expecting it to change my mind is the kind of tactic propagandists use.
@gotc147 In my state, Arizona, ICU and ventilators are almost at full capacity. The number of cases are increasing so much here, and soon doctors are going to have to choose who lives and dies. Not all states are this bad, but here it's terrible. Not all cases are terrible, but it's evident that there's too many serious cases for our facilities to handle. If more states end up like Arizona, there will be a lot of unnecessary deaths due to people not using proper precautions. People of all ages are going to die.
ICU admissions are almost all people who had non-COVID problems who didn't go to the doctor because they were afraid of getting COVID and so now are sicker because they waited.
@gotc147 Do you have any facts to back this up... because I'm pretty sure you're wrong on this... If you want to prove me wrong, look up Arizona, look up covid cases and ICU availability...
@gotc147 Most people who are hospitalized for any disease (such as influenza) aren't in peak health when they came down with the flu. But there is a way to tease out if the deaths due to COVID-19 are over-reported or under reported and that's to compare the seasonal death rate in 2020 to other years:And what we find is that not only is the death rate higher than would be expected, the difference in death rates is greater than the deaths due to coronavirus implying that if anything, the deaths are under-reported.
@gotc147 Nice try.. But, Wikipedia has your source listed:The Daily Wire is an American right-wing news and opinion website founded in 2015 by political commentator Ben Shapiro, who is the site's editor-in-chief.So much for your "Middle of the road" opinions.
@Fatherhere901 Either refute the claims in the article or admit you are wrong, just saying that the reporting source itself is biased doesn't refute the claims and is nothing more than an ad homienem.
@gotc147 How can you expect me to refute the claims issued in the articles when the ability to read these articles pertained to me being put on another propaganda list where I will receive junk email or if they even get my number, telemarketers calling me with phony phone numbers. I have never come across a newspaper who only reports one side of the news without exercising the reader's right to hear the other side. Not to mention Any newspaper that only allow you to read it if you sign up for it. So, with that said, unless you're ready to print out exactly each article That you are referring to , there is nothing to refute. I have educated myself with news agencies that actually tell both sides of the story, as well as everyone else that have read your propaganda. There's your retort! There's the attack of your story!
@Fatherhere901 My comments here repeat the claims made in the article, get to work.
@gotc147 You did my work... Quoting you "My comments here repeat the claims made in the article, ..."Your source for the article is defined by Wikipedia as : "an American right-wing news and opinion website..." which does not report both sides of the news and only it's opinions to strengthen it's political views. In Short: your posting, based on that article, is, by definition of a world-renown source, "Pure Political Propaganda by your own claim"
@Fatherhere901 And yet, you can't provide one single shred of evidence to prove it wrong. You're essentially saying "You're wrong because I don't like you".Thus, you have lost this debate, begone.
@gotc147 My words and post have been quite enough to defend my position. As for my proof... Everyone else have seen the proof they need to "Deflate" your postings..So, Do everyone a favor... Climb to the top of your ego and jump down to your I. Q. That way we never hear about you again.
@Fatherhere901 Keep telling yourself that.
@gotc147 abcnews.go.com/.../story.. Now your done.
@Fatherhere901 Can I get your dealers number? I need some of the stuff you're on.
@gotc147 Sure, it under USA. gov. The internet can get you the truth whenever your ready to throw away the rose-colored glasses.
But, I think your going to need something stronger if a National News Agency information isn't good enough for you
